Have fun man. When I'm DXing up on usb.555 I have found that the memery is great, I can bang fast place to place. Sugar delta world contest started today!radio should be here Wednesday. Damn now I have to learn to read!!!!
I use it in my mobile. You will need a power supply to use as a base, I would get a good 25 amp supply or larger, and if you run an amp remember to get a p.s. that can do both.

This radio can be used for either. It is a nice size for a base if space is limited but not too small of a radio to feel like a small toy.
For a mobile, it is a little larger than a RCI 2970 but It can be used for a mobile but may require some ingenuity for mounting.
Here is Forum member Buttfuzz with his 450D in his mobile. Hopefully he doesn't mind having his pic posted here. I probably wouldn't put right above the steering like that but this is just a visual reference to the size of the radio for you.
Maybe Mudduckmobile can post a pic of his mobile install for you.

Nice pics! Radio looks to be just big enough to be mobile without being too big.
Just my two cents, my first and one of the best hf rigs i owned was the yaesu ft-857d all mode plus 2 meter & 70cm!
It will be a world of change compared to what you were used to. Enjoy it!
Here in Victoria the arm pit of Texas there is no one on the radio. Hopefully I can hear some amateur stations...
