More channel 6 questions

The ch 6 guys are competitive and lot of people believe anything they can do to make the watt meter swing higher is a good thing. It doesn't matter what color you are or what channel you hang out on, this is happening. Most don't believe you can have a powerful station and not bleed 20-40 channels.

Wonder what they will do when they find out that concept has been a lie. . .

Never. The old timers teach most of the young operators. A lot of guys close to me are this way. One of them just has to run a ******* Roger beep to identify himself, like we wouldn't recognize his blown out sounding radio and uhh being every other word. When he goes off to another channel to have a side conversation you hear him clearly for a few channels, his voice bleeds 10 and the Roger beep bleeds at least 20.

He uses his beam for local talk and keys on the weaker guys because he can't hear them off the side. The beam is a status symbol so he rarely uses his ground plane. I talk to the same guys with 100 pep and rarely use more, he needs a kw and a beam.

He calls his tech a dummy but continues to do business there. Anyone that doesn't sound loud and blown out like him is either running crap equipment or needs to turn up their modulation.

He will read this some day.

Please pardon my n00bness. ;)

1.) Why do these guys say "bye bye bye" at the end of each transmission, when we all know they're going to be keying up again in 3 seconds or less? Is that just another word for "break?"

2.) Since assumption is dangerous, please tell me what exactly is the meaning of "I (just) got down?"

Please feel free to translate any other of your favorites for me!

Thanks,
807
the whole mentality of that channel is testosterone. is simple concept the more power the more you repeat yourself. those big giant dirty amp has fried some brain cells. example the verbal click, click noise at the end of their transmission, that is meant to be a relay contact noise made by old tube type receiver to transmitter manual switch pre 1950s. and 40s, some of them would say break at the end, not sure what is meant by that? they not picking up any breakers but they say it anyway!!!!. is a whole cb culture. few of these guys on 6 have neglect family for the hobby. others have serve jail time for the hobby, and others drive around in old rust buckets with thousands of dollars of radio equipment in them. others have no furniture and live on a house with wheels, all in the name of who has the most power. intelligent conversations are very rare and although they put out thousands of watts some of them had never talk any dx outside the united states. or the western hemisphere. in all fairness they stay in this channel and QRM each other all day. and thats a good deal.

Seems to me it's all one big nationwide keydown, the slang they keep repeating seems to only be used as a source of modulation and probably shouldn't be expected to really mean much. They're basically just playing king of the hill.

It's not something I'm interested in but I won't begrudge them their fun, the world would be a very boring place if everyone did everything exactly the same.

Its called "I'll see your horror, and raise you another." ;)

Actually, thats supposedly an AM broadcast transmitter in Quito, Ecuador, so the 833's are right at home. Sorta.

OK so that sounds about right. I have seen some of those home brew transmitters used in some remote third world countries where the laws are pretty slack and I must say that that one is about the worst I have even seen however.

Sweet, I see an AC driver and the big box. Lol, only problem I see is that someone is using bird 43 line sections. Where's the 1-5/8" dual line section Unless it's 3Z's pushing a pair of 3000's. Still decent power. Haha. With a few of the mobiles I seen, that would be a driver. Seriously. Yes, a 3-1/8" line section was used for output on big box.
