Mounted my 980

Yep.
I will never spend another dime on one again. Lasted about 3 months. Display gradually went to no leds. Then transmit power went to nothing.
Then the radio went into the trash.

I have said it before quality CB's are no longer made because there is no market for them

When I read the title I was afraid to click on the thread because I had a completely different meaning of "mount" in mind.

Eventually curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to see how you got a saddle on a 980, since that would be a huge size mismatch.

Now I have seen and am much relieved. Strangely, the 980 I bought off ebay has survived an Arizona summer, no issues. Sorry to hear you got a crap unit. QA ain't what it used to be.

I bought one on Amazon. The first one had low power that turned into no power right out of the box. They sent a replacement that seems to be ok. It doesn't get used much though.

I got a P.O.S. yaesu ftm 7250 dr that needs to jo9n yours. 4 rides to yaesu n still no change. Other 7250 works great.but the bad 1 kills my buying more yaesu crap. If they cant fix this 1 kinda ends my desire to own yaesu or YAHOO JUNK

Oh, you were throwing it away?
My techs health has gone way south, so into the trash.
Well, I do understand more now...

Upset, no - just thankful that it wasn't it's earlier cousins you were doing this to.

I Thought you were going to do up a set of posts on how to make it a portable stand alone - but needed a method to haul the batteries it needs to use, in a more convenient carrying case. :)

Ever since the demise of the Grant XL and PC-122 - I've has less and less enthusiasm for Uniden's newer (yet not well thought out) products as of circa-2000's and onward.

The disappointment caused me to shelf it. The price caused me to hang onto it. Time gave me the will to throw it in the trash. I am glad some have gotten along well with theirs.
I would not have gotten it had the price of older used radios not have gone so high.
I guess I will save a little and buy an Anytone 5555 or 6666.
Right now I'm using my old Realistic SSB. It just keeps hanging in there.
Now, my go fund me page is at .... ;)
