So many different opinions on vertical antennas. Ask any manufacturer and they will say there's is best.
I run a IMAX 2000. It works fine for me.

Took my old Imax down today and put up a new one.
right at factory its 2-1 on 26.965, 1.6 on 27.405 and 1.35 on about 28.000 then shoots up after that.
I put the rings in the middle and got 1.05 on 28.485 but 27.385 sucked.
Just love spending $200 and risking my life for a piece of junk...

I never adjusted the rings on my 2000. Believe it or not, the SWR is 1.1 on channel 1, 1.1 on channels 19 and 20 and 1.2 on channel 40.
Unreal.
gonna climb up and try the rings low but I know its gonna be crap.
** I put the rings about 1/2 inch from the bottom.
Best swr is 1.47 at 27.780, 1.56 at 27.385 then its 2.0 at about 26.200.
fricking garbage
I have a 40' HD Channel Master Telescopic Mast and I did not want to take the risk and trust the supplied clamps. I installed a #10 self tapping stainless steel screw at each joint.one of the things i have noticed about a99 and imax is that where they go on mast has to be cleaned good... a rusted or dirty mast can cause the swr to go up some,, and the mast not being long enough or where the mast joints are not making a good connection,,, something to ponder about,,,,,

I also attached a 10 gage solid copper wire to the bottom of the mast with a stainless steel hose clamp and attached the copper wire to a 3' steel rod in the ground, but I have no clue (or knowledge) if that would do any good with reducing the SWR reading.

FYI
There is a notice on Bells CB Radio site relating to the I MAX 2000 stating, quote;" We no longer sell this antenna because Solarcon decided to shorten the antenna so that it would ship easier. They did this without changing the tuning of the antenna so now it comes tuned for 10 meter ham band and not CB radio"
Unreal.

Could it be that is the reason why a few folks are having difficulty getting an acceptable SWR because unknowingly they have the short version of the 2000?That does it for me...no I-Max 2000 in my future.
