Base New Imax wont tune 11m....this sucks

If the company building them has shortened them to reduce shipping cost it is going to be hard for a while to figure out what is old stock ( the longer ones) and what is new stock, the short ones.
Unless you can have the seller measure the antenna and telling you before they ship it.

Good point, but, would the seller agree to open / disturb the factory's shipping box? If the seller did honor the request to measure the sections and the total length would not be 24", the buyer would cancel the order, which means the seller would not be a happy camper because he/she has lost a sale.
As a few forum members have suggested, the length of the box may not be the true reason for changing the length of the antenna. They may just keep the long boxes and use them for the shorter antennas.
It is a "dog eat dog" world out there!

I haven't seen a 102" stainless whip in years. If my memory is intact, the fitting at the bottom had a set screw to keep the whip attached. We were able to remove the antenna from the fitting and trim-off material to adjust the SWR. But, the antenna is tapered and if too much material was removed, there would be too much clearance between the antenna and the fitting. I never did understand why we were told to never remove the ball at the tip of the antenna. In your situation, about 5" needs to be trimmed off the 102" whip and if you removed 5" from the bottom of the antenna, there would definitely be excessive clearance between the fitting and antenna.
I have this antenna on a 40" mast with the ground plane kit. My swr on 27 or 28 is 1.1 and will be happy to share a photo. I grounded the antenna and use the DX surge arrestor and choke

Thank you for replying.
Knowing the proximity of the tuning rings is good information to be passed-on to the guys who are having difficulty obtaining good SWR readings on their MAX 2000 antennas. Apparently you have a 24' MAX 2000 and not the latest shorter MAX 2000.
I purchased my max2000 last month and it is 24 feet long and performs fine. I discovered that grounding is more important to lower swr readings.

Just got a new Imax 2000 today and it tuned almost 1.2 to 1 on channel 28 and I didn't have to mess with the rings or anything else.I bought it from HRO, had a gift certificate to use from there, so I think it's still a 10 and 11 meter antenna, no problems with it at all so far.
This was my experience as well, didn't have to touch the rings. My radio and amp love this antenna

which means the seller would not be a happy camper because he/she has lost a sale.
If he ships a antenna out that won't tune properly it most likely is going to get returned anyway.
I would rather have a dealer be honest with me and tell me what the deal is from the get go.
I do give props to Bells for being up front and disclosing this info to there customers.
The real issue is that now it seems that there are 2 versions of this antenna out there and the only way to tell them apart is by the length.

Just a simple color-coded stripe or the letters "SA" (for short antenna) after 2000 on the antennas and boxes to identify the frequency ranges would be OK.
Yes, hats-off to Bell's for posting the statement about the shorter antennas.

Ok.
So I contacted Road Pro.
This is who makes the Antenna now.
I got a reply back just now, here you go.

Hello and Good Morning Jeff.
Thank you for reaching out us at RoadPro Family of Brands. Due to shipping restrictions we were required to shorten the length of the Imax by 1/4".. This is not a significant change on a 22' antenna, but was needed for our shipping requirements.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us.
Thanks again!

First of all I don't get why a 24 foot antenna is now a 22 foot antenna.
Next, only shortened 1/4 inch?
I understand that most of the members here have these antennas mounted.
I am going to start a new thread asking members to input measurements on I max 2000 antennas.
That thread, and this one is going to get stuck to the top for now.
More to follow( I hope)

What shipping restrictions?
Four days ago UPS left a 102" stainless steel antenna at my front door.

So I write them back, saying that the Antennas were 24 feet long, and asked if they are now 21 feet 11and3/4 inches.
Here is the reply.

Thank you for getting back to us Jeff,
Yes, you are correct. The length minus the 1/4" is 21' 11 3/4" .
Thanks again!

They are "dancing around" trying to avoid the why twenty-four feet has been reduced down to twenty-two feet question. You may be communicating with the night watchperson!
