New president lincoln 2

Glad i didn't buy one from the first run. Looks like future batches will have the mods done. Will be interesting to see if the manufacturer fixes existing radios !.Also looking forward to seeing the test results after the mod.

Over here in the U.K. the radio retailer Nevada will be doing my modifications, free of charge under the warranty. They have techs who will do the mods so will be back with me in a couple of days hopefully.

You must have been using a President branded aerial. :D

The Mod

It works. It is how it should have been in the first place.
But it is not easy to do due to tight placement and minuscule parts.
It will need to be a professional doing the work or returned to where-ever.
Now just need to exchange the frequency display for the channel read out.
Is it a CB or a 10m rig?
They need to make up their minds...

Mods are done - going to test over the next few days and report back

Okay - so after using the radio this week (post mods) I can report that the receive is much improved. The noise level/static level seems to have dropped and the radio is much quieter overall for listening while stations seem to be stronger and more easily understood.

I would compare it to the 2950DX in terms of the receive which is just fine with me for performance. After the fixes I have no problems recommending the radio (if you can get a version 2 with the mods).

It's still pretty pricey when you can get a Icom 718 used for close to the same price, but the Lincoln II is a powerful radio in a very compact size. I really do enjoy the features on the radio and it's really easy to use. I can go from 11 meters to freeband to 10 meters in just a matter of seconds. On air reports have been excellent and I found the radio barefoot does the job to make contacts.

Just have to see how it holds up in the long term, but it's now taken the center spot in my dash.
