Northstar's hot August 36LSB Contest.

If I can I'd enjoy doing this. I have a legal type accepted CB. I can use. I have made numerous contacts with it without an amp. In fact, I have made numerous QRP contacts on the Amateur HF bands. It's much easier with good conditions, but try anyway. You never know until you try.

I checked into the ditchbank SSB net on 36 lsb about 8:30 local time.
There was no DX during the net, and the noise floor was really low.
It made for nice local conditions, I had good copy on stations in the south valley 90 to 100 air miles away from up on the hill.

Nothing so far. Anybody make any contacts?

We're about are you in so cal?
Might be a couple places up on a hill there to do static mobile from.
There is a guy that parks up on Mount Diablo up north and he can cover some real estate from up there.
My old friend Tracy, used to park in his Chevy truck right below a place called meadow lake's it is a big repeater site east of Fresno.
He could cover the valley all the way over to I5 on the west side of the valley.
Hight is might and 3000 feet under your mobile is gold.

I got the tre-797 out and see what it can do. It seems to be off frequency on ssb but I'll try to compensate.
I got my 797 out and finally checked it against my NESDR Smart usb on my computer. The upper side band transmit was almost perfect, the lower side was a little off. The NESDR is a neat gizmo for sure, it is only about $40 on Amazon.

I am calling and listening but no DX. It seems that someone forgot to turn it on for the contest. I might have to flip the switch, for testing purposes only of course........

I am in the Pasadena area. I drive up to Chantry Flats but I would have the mountain behind me. The San Gabriel mountains run East and west. Think it’s on only mountain range in North America to do so.
