President Grant PC-999AD

The idea is to get all stations in the conversation transmitting on the same frequency.

So long as only two stations are in the conversation it won't matter if each one is transmitting on a different frequency. Each one tunes in the other, and all is well.

It's only when a third party joins the conversation that this becomes a problem. He has to choose which one of the other two to tune in.

This is when having everyone transmitting on the same slot becomes an advantage. No other way to arrange this than to "lock" your transmit to the frequency that you're receiving.

That way nobody has to touch his clarifier when a different station speaks up.

well here is what the uniden export service manual had to say about it:

I can't vouch for whether or not it works, but there you have it.

I do have to agree with the others who are asking why on earth someone would want to do this, since the way it is set up from the factory gives maximum convenience to the user, but it's your radio, and if you feel you need this mod, it's up to you.

one note though, you will need to re-align the radio after you do the mod, so unless you have an accurate frequency counter handy, you might want to hold off until you get one.

I have already performed this modification on a first silver grant series PC-999, but this grant mounts a different circuit board the PC-999 AD with fine and coarse
After the modification I always realign carrier and pll with the frequency counter.

Don't know portuguese, but there are many radios with the name "Grant" on them. The particular steps needed to reach the "0" frequencies on the clarifier will be different for each of these radios.

Best way to identify the correct procedure begins with the type number on the radio's main printed circuit board. I do not have a list of them all on hand. Once the exact printed circuit board design is identified, this will determine the modification needed.
