Can someone clarify this for me?

  • 1000 Watts (CW) continuous, 3000 Watts (CW) short time
Is that 1000 continuous like an AM carrier? Or is that PEP??

<<Duh, memory lapse.
Greg, don't you have a bit of property to play with ?

I have some wonderful solutions for 140' point to point. It's just that not everyone has trees, towers, flagpoles ...
I don't. I have a garage at the rear of the property, but nothing in the front but grass and sidewalk. At one time I had considered a full wave dipole, but them I'd have to drive a pole in the ground in the front yard. LOL.

Perfect. Put some plastic clothespins on it and tell the neighbors it's a clothesline.

I don't care about the neighbors. No HOA here. But we do have a few kids in the hood and I'm not sure I can trust them to leave it alone. But I've always had this idea abut a full wave. Don't know why.

I know, but that's not my question.

There is simply no need for 1000W or even anything approaching. It's a load of crap using it with any monopole CB antenna. Yeah sure you'll be heard far and wide but you're still only going to be receiving a short distance so you'll never hear most of those who reply to you.

Put the effort into the antennas so you have an ERP of 1000W-3000W from the antenna, transmitting a tenth of that out of the radio. You'll then find you're also able to hear most of the people who reply.

Um ... What part of "That's not my question" confused you? I was simply wondering what the manufacturer intended as a power rating when posting these numbers. It seems there are many unexplained or debatable claims being made by manufacturers these days and I was just inquiring for clarification. Nothing more.
