Awesome Dan ! (y) I work a lot of stations portable myself , or use to . My base is @ 679' but I'm lucky enough to have a neighbor w/ a road going up to his fields which is about 100' higher than I am . My problem is my Cobra 140Gtl is converted for uppers/lowers but I lost the damn chart & don't have a freq counter ! So w/ me the chase is on !:LOL:

You know...I REALLY want to run an old rig. I’m particularly attracted to the Madison, especially the jazzed-up ones posted here by LC and 75.

The catch is that I have to be able to tune to the zeros accurately and quickly....530, 570, and etc.

Until I can find someone that can do that, exports it is.

  • @ Geoexplorer69:
Coax question. I just put up a new Sirio monsoon base antenna with 100’ of rg8u coax testing with myMFJ antenna analyzer shows 1.4 swr at 26.965mhz and a 1.1 at 27.405 mhz . When I checked the ohms it’s steady a 30 ohms across the entire bandwidth.
  • @ Geoexplorer69:
Is 30 ohms worth worrying about in a 100’ run of rg8u ?
