I had a Hallicrafters CB-3 when I was a kid (I'm old now - close to 50) that my grandpa gave me. He had a mic on it which looked like a d104, but it did not have the PTT - someone added a separate pushbutton switch for PTT lol - something someone had rigged up long before my time. Anyway, the thing worked and it was cool as hell. Rare just because it was so old, even when I had it in the 80's.

Thanks, and yes, they were great rigs back in the heyday! Well this one does look nice, and werks great --- but the clock mech (which would be out-of-frame) is totally missing. I took it out to repair it, and then it mysteriously 'disappeared'. The 13-898B was my first "real plug-in" base station rig. I had a PAL model "E" VFO and Turner +3 hooked up to it (not this same one), and even talked to Australia on 12W PEP.
I had a lot of fun with that thing.

Well, I can't say that my projects sometimes end up missing parts, bad management on my part. I start, get interested in something else and nothings where I put it, or where I thought it was.
My first base was a 79-892 mobile with a power supply and stock mic as the clarifier was built into the mic. Talked all over the world on 12 watts. Late 70's to early 80's. Fun times

It probably wasn't that rare, but I never saw the same model again. It was a Sears Roadtalker 40, that basically was built on the Cobra 29/Uniden PC76 chassis/board. I successfully installed a 40up/down channel kit, echo board, and talkback in it for the Cobra/Uniden radios. Was decent.

Oh, and there's the little 2 channel HT that my dad had a pair of when I was a kid. I was able to find a pair like it on ebay a while back. The speaker is also the mic. They have a front red PTT, A/B switch, volume and squelch on the left side, a call button, battery LED, telescopic antenna, metal belt clip, and run on 2 N cells.
