I'm in the market for a good working Registry Cleaner, and I need some recommendations, free or not.

There are two programs that may be of benefit to you. One is 'RegCure', and the other is 'TUT', 'The Ultimate Trouble Shooter'. The use of both of them (together or not) needs to be thought about carefully.
'RegCure' 'cleans' the registry like is says it does. Whether you need that or not is open to debate. That 'TUT' program gives you the oportunity to get rid of some 'parasite' programs, ones that just don't do anything to your benefit. Or the programs that various manufacturers add to software for -their- use, not yours. Gotta be careful with that, but it certainly can be helpful.
Neither of them are free.

You are rolling the dice when you use any kind of "registry cleaner". They tend to overwelm you with "hey ... look what I found, shall we delete all?" question.

Its how you respond next that defines how good it is. Delete the wrong entry and you could render your system un-bootable. I don't recommend any to those that ask the question. Do you feel lucky ...?

Most allow you save a restore point in case of problems. .

Once I get a fresh install of my operating system and programs I make an image and store it on a separate disk. Any problems later or if I buy a new computer it only takes 10 minutes to restore a drive image. All I have to do then is download any updates since my last image.

Been using CCleaner for the past six years. It is free. Never had any problem with it. Just run it in 'default' - which is the normal setting once installed. Just don't add any other requirements - just run it in the normal/default mode.

"AML Free Registry Cleaner" is what I've used for the past twp years. Does an excellent job, and it's FREE.

Hijackthis (ages 12 & up)
CCleaner (ages 3 & up)
Wise reg cleaner (ages 3 & up)
Iv been using cc for 6+ years, using most of the options.

Not a big fan of auto reg cleaners. HijackThis is good because you can cut and paste the log file and allow people you trust help you out. Then you can run regedit and do it yourself or through hijackThis. I also use spybot search and destroy for malware.

If your having problems run hijack this and cut and paste the log file here.

Some free programs do a decent job, but then even if you pay for the software, it still might not do much better than the FREE version.

With that said, I have used several myself:
CCleaner
Reg Cure
Register Mechanic
Advance System Care.

I now have the paid version of AdvanceSystemCare, it works better than any of the others that I've tired. The "free" version is good, the paid version has just a few more options. It's got a good rating too!

I have Crap cleaner and I have "RegSeeker" its by far the best....I would be lost without it......been using it for yrs....prolly the most useful tool I have.

Are you guys finding alot of garbage in your registry? Do these apps make your systems faster or can you tell?
I'm kind of a novice when it comes to computers but I'd have a hard time living without mine!
Would I notice a difference?
Thanks
