E3B27AF5-5058-4E55-B791-4EED5F070485.jpeg Looks like a new add on power module is coming out, the RFX95HD. I have no details on it yet or know when it’s coming out. Might be out now, heck if I know but I just saw it in a flyer this morning.

I’ll bet you one thing, somebody is gonna put some turbo prop fans on one, airboat fans, come on!

Well I honestly know nothing about them cause I’ve never owned one and never had one in the shop here. Probably not directed towards just the AM crowd but if that’s the case, then it’s definitely just good for AM.

I’m curious about it though. It’s just so big and gaudy looking, haha.

Have installed a couple rfx 75's on Cobra 29's and have had good luck with them. Unfortunately the one I have installed on a Cobra 29 that I still own will not fit in the Peterbilt I'm driving. It's sticks too far out the back and will hit the windshield. I had it in an older Peterbilt years ago and had no problem with it fitting. come to think of it I also had it in a Kenworth with no problem.

I’ve always wanted to fiddle with one but never had the chance. Everybody that comes in here is hung up on those AD203’s.

If I survive this storm of the century I might order one or two just to try out.

I also have a Cobra 29 with a ad 203 board in it it works well also and doesn't hang off the back of the radio. I like it equally as well does about 70 to 75 Watts I believe without modification.

Yea I like them, they’re pretty good if you don’t fiddle with them and mod them. Problem is people read on the net that so and so has one and does blah blah blah and then they want that too. You try to tell them but it doesn’t seem to matter.

People don’t want reliability they want the proverbial testicles to the sheetrock. And if you don’t do it for them, someone else will. I quit caring, less headache for me.

That’s a good question. And I don’t know the answer.

Bells huh? He must keep up with his suppliers better than I do mine. Oh well, what’s his price on it?

You can never off subject or derail a Porkchop thread, I’m good at doing it myself. Let’s figure out why the 203 won’t do the 100 without a mod.

I never did compare that one resistor that everybody Cuts or changes to see if they use the same one on the AD 203 or the kl203 can't remember the number offhand.

Looking at what RFX75's and 85's go for if you can find one it may not be a bad idea to order a case and sit on it for a while come on.;)

I'm curious myself, a 29 or 78 with a RFX75/85 should be an ideal channel 19 workhorse as long as you don't encounter the mounting issues that Low_Boy has. If it's no good on SSB it would still be OK, everything on the market doesn't have to be good for all applications in order to be worthwhile (although it would be nice if it did also work on SSB).

Yea, that would be good to see. Maybe that’s the difference? Somebody posted here about cutting it and it throwing off the match? I’m bad with names, I can’t remember who that was.

That’s a good thought too. I can order a case but I’m not patient and I’d probably sell them before I should. Agreed, it doesn’t always have to cover all the bases to be worthy.

It's never easy tying to hide a V8 engine in a Volkswagen...

I got a Volkswagen, a Beetle. Don’t need no stinking V8 if you got a big enough hairdryer, haha. That’s my thoughts though, it’s so big hanging off the back. Maybe they ship them with a window AC bracket to help support the weight.

Usually I see those things climbing dunes n such...but all the torque and weight on the rear wheels - more like they bail out and they need to have a sign that says, Open Other End spray painted on the bottom of the floorboard panels...
