Justin, I heard you have or do modify Robyn T-240Ds for plate modulation. Do you? What are the benefits? I'm almost ready to ship my Robyn to you for some work and became aware of this. Might as well get all the tricks since I love this rig.

Thanks, Wayne.

Hello there,

I am 100% curious how on Earth you know that I do this to this particular radio. Not that it's a bad thing, but yes, I do them for the local guys here, along with alot of the other tube type radios. Like for instance the lafayette comstat 25b, etc. I have a mint condition t-240D that it was done to, and the audio quality is excellent. The radio comes screen-plate modulated, already. There are quite a few cool things that these type radios with this chassis can do. The end result is excellent plate modulated AM, with a wide audio frequency response, they are loud, clear and clean!! Here is a list if some of my favorites:

Robyn T123

Robyn T240 (the executive, one of the FIRST tube radios with a PLL!!)

Lafayette Comstat 25, 25B

Cobra CAM 88

Teaberry Model T

Anyways, yes it can be done, please call the shop for more information. 909-605-1144

I see some of these radios on ebay. Might be worth purchasing one and sending one to you to do them mods. Didn't know those were capable of doing much.

Hello there, Mondays and Tuesdays are my days off there, (I know stange schedule) Great idea, although the power supply isn't quite adequate. I get great performance out of the 6BQ5 and redesigning parts of the circuit.

Yellow Zonke. Hi I'm irock i have the same robyn radio. Was wondering if you got the work done on it by Justin.

irock, this is a 12 year old post and the OP and Justin were guests and not forum members at the time. They haven't been around since so I doubt you'll get an answer.

Awesome classic radio chassis. They have great sounding audio when paired up with a decent classic desk mic. I've never set one up for HiFi because I didn't "hear" the need too:whistle:

These are just a few of the 20+ variants...

Anyone have a list of them all?

Knight, Cardon, Eico, Allied, Kris, Gemtronics, Power Mate Gem Marine Products, Teaberry, Robyn, Olson, Courier, Lafayette, Colt, Shakespeare ...without knowing the exact models of the 23 and 40 channel radios.

I have always ran mine completely stock with a D-104 desk mic. Excellent reports on this rig. They don't put out a lot of watts, but hey... that's what amplifiers are for. ;)

There is a shop in the Tampa area that might be able to repair it for you. Guys name is Lee. Here is his info.
Hope this helps. If you are trying to repair it yourself, start a thread about it as this one is very old and might not get many responses.

Thanks. I will look into it. I've been poking at it for a few days hoping to find something loose but, no joy.
