Scary Snake Radio "Setting Up" President Lincoln II V3

There is a lot of pain here - I don't know how the others may feel about it, but I do find some comfort that I am not left standing alone in this.

Again, thank you all.

No it's not you - the "bickering" - Kaos, Kopcicle, CK - they are right, does us, no good, to rehash old wounds

The pain comes from an era that no longer exists - Newsgroups and the spam we used to get from others and how it was so disruptive to the flow.

The "spam" we're dealing with, if liberty can be granted for lack of a better word - adds to the problem of what is considered acceptable "freedom of speech" and the impinging of another's' rights not to hear it.

It's like those that wish to make a point - attack in such a way that it literally slows down and hinders traffic to the point that no one can communicate or even want to be out there - lest they find themselves embroiled in the middle of a "SPAM" war that can shut down "nets" - as an actual attack coordinated and designed to crash systems.

IF anyone remembers FREE AGENT - it was a USENET program you could D/L'd for free and was specifically for USENET. The attacks were much like a DOS (Denial Of Service) attack, where spam - repetitively - fills up a users USENET box or even Email (Eudora) and although great strides have been made - it is still possible to coordinate attacks on systems by such means. How we react to it - many just stopped using it which then we all lose out on that bit of information or users profile we enjoyed - and are left alone in a vast sea of useless spam being downloaded or if possible - entire days or weeks were skipped and if there was any posts by that user you wanted to see - you had to wade thru it in the download packet and let your PC sort it out and trash the rest.

If there was any new users, they didn't get posted because the wide spam net had to be cast to remove the unwanted

It's just these threads are a perfect example of an uncontrollable attack that one says it's my right, but others say it's not - and then we are forced to choose whom we serve - the public that wants freedom, or the users of the "Net" that want a structured environment that can be considered censorship. Hence the "rec." versus "comp." or "talk." some of which are more moderated and have a tiered system that can nip toxic threads in one fell swoop. The hierarchy issue is the problem - when spam appears in a structured environment - it really can upset a lot of apple-carts to the point that many a good user just won't make the effort to continue working in such a toxic environment that goes against their ability to be free to speak for themselves.

Ok, I think we've killed this enough but again, when a structured environment such as this forum is breeched by those that want nothing more than to post links, messages or photos - as a means to defame, detract or otherwise disrupt an otherwise peaceful setting - I would like to know there is someone here that is willing to nip it in the bud or transfer-move the thread to a less likely board in the forums that is more firewalled for it. So at least those that are not registered - aren't going to see "Radio Porn" unless they register and become a member that chooses this route - by choice - not by someone else that says "it exists so therefore I am"

Oh, I don't think so.
That is, this isn't wasted time.

SRC shuts out all of any reviews that aren't 100% positive. He shields and removes any video that prove to be controversial. IOW, people in general won't/don't get a fair review of his business and practices. Think about it: you are new to CB radio, looking for a shop to do business with, and dumb as a stump to all of it.

There are video reviews of SRC on YouTube that pretty much states the same things that have been discussed here on the forum. There are some bonafide unhappy SRC customers. If anyone bothered to look, anyway . . .

If you were to get reviews on GI Joes or some other CB shop, you could go on Google and see the good and bad about any one of them. Why, I can go to Ebay and get reviews of any seller and buy with them or pass them by if I don't like what I'm reading. That's fair; right? But not so with SRC.

Does that sound as shady to you as it does to me?

Well, you have to admit that the horse that is Snake Radios has been beaten into dust.

If any of them spent the energy that they spend on fake news videos, scaremongering, harassment and so forth on actually doing legitimate business or learning how to do it without causing a stir, then they would be better off.

These guys have been beaten to dust.
The kind of dust you can't clean up.
And they survive. Humanity has surpassed Darwin.

All they do is trample over each other for the few customers that are out there.
And that is why some of these guys are as vicious as they are.
This is interesting to see someone say. I was getting the impression that there is a lack of repair technicians available. I have called places simply asking for parts, and if they do repairs, they often ask if I can handle some of their overflow, without even knowing what my level of competency is. When it comes to transceivers, I am a total noob, but I don't like telling people that, so I just tell them I am too busy at the moment to take on any more work, which I kind of am. One shop told me that they have to turn away so much work that they could keep several shops in business, and begged me to let them know if things changed. I have also seen the lamenting on this very forum about how few shops will accept mail in business.

Anyway, was I incorrect?

Some of these "shops" create artificial scarcity.
When I see videos where these "shops" proclaim that they are backed up 9 months but then I read forum posts about a turn around time of a week from the same "shop"..

Just a little funny.

It depends. The good shops or techs are still drowned out by the noise, and don't have time for those mail-in repairs. But you have to know those exist and if you are a newcomer, your far more likely to end up at the chop shop than at the honest shop.

It would seem counter productive to tell people you are backed up 9 months. Most people don't want to wait that long to get their stuff repaired.

The trick is to let them watch, and make it look like you know what you are doing.

I wonder who the "H" guy is.

"his own brand of diodes" and the "sideband and am" transistors were "upgraded"

But he has seen those poly caps go bad. I can't remember the last time I replaced one when I worked in service. They are very, very reliable.

Or ceramic bypass caps that are somehow "bad"

What is "pure copper wire" - does he mean not copper plated or is there some other form of "pure copper" I am unaware of?

I feel for Jim In KY.

I was questioning "my own brand of diodes" too. As for the green poly caps, I have seen those go bad in one radio, and two televisions. The coating deteriorates, and I'm assuming soaks up water. Mike, from Mike's Radio repair has mentioned them too. I don't worry about them if they aren't getting fuzzy though. I think someone screwedu p the formula for the coating on those caps for a while.

Anyway, I think this guy has a bit too much OCD. I could see flattening out cans on the board if of the leads were long, but short leads aren't usually a problem. Just extra work for no benefit.

Look at "the radio shop" on YouTube.
He shows the polys in a Yaesu that grow the fungus or were cracked.

Cracked, yes, Fungus, yes obviously need replacement.
But if the circuit is working and there has been no trauma to it then they will probably outlast the radio or until the radio is well into it's "antique" stage (>50+ years)
