oh boy, This is where things get a bit dicey for ol' loosecannon.
you see, i gave myself that handle because i tend to shoot my mouth off before i've considered all the facets and facts.
It works well on the radio, but in life it can cause me some frustration and embarrassment.
This is one of those times and boy oh boy does my foot taste terrible!!!
So, i got all jazzed up when i saw this listing on ebay because i have one of these radios, and discovered just how rare they are, and how unique the design is.
I probably posted the thread about the NOS ones within minutes of seeing the ad on ebay, as well as texting a few local radio collectors.
Now it is my very sad duty to apologize for unintentionally misleading people into believing that the radio they would get is the same as the one i have.
You have no idea how embarrassing it is to have to say that this version of the SS3000 is just another run of the mill ranger chassis, and does not have the dual audio amplifiers inside like mine does.
There must be a couple of different versions, and in my defense there were no internal pictures in the ad.
the face looks exactly the same in both versions.
I AM SOOO SORRY to anyone who feels misled by my post!!!
Don't get me wrong, this is still a cool radio to have a NOS version of, as i believe it is old enough to be called vintage by now.
so, my advice to those that bought one is to re-cap it, align it, and then either let it look pretty on your shelf, or put it up on the bay as a restored NOS 'connex type' radio, and i'll bet you garner a good price for it.
once again, i am very sorry to anyone who got victimized by my impetuousness, and i will try to be better about that in the future.
no promises though!
I have to stay somewhat true to the handle!
