Superscanner antenna Yeah!!

I am rebuilding mine and upgrading it to handle boots instead of bare foot. I will bookmark this thread.

Thanks, JASTECH

Super Scanner MS-119 Upgrade

That antenna would be worth fabricating with a better phasing harness.

I'll bet people would buy them.

Someone may be able to make some money and it won't even take any snake oil.

I need ideas on upgrading the relay box, I have upgraded coax and stainless steel to replace all the hardware. I will add 3 balun's, thinking of making the antenna 5/8 wave.

Thanks and 73's, JASTECH

Just bought one off of craigslist for 20 bucks this week. Put it up last night and I'm pretty happy with it. The VSWR's are very low, and it does seem to have pretty good rejection lobe to lobe. Debating whether to hook up my maco 300 to it. I've seen posts worning abut too much power, and other's who have no problem with it.

CK this was such a great idea in a simplified beam I just cant imagine why "Antenna Specialists" stop production and wonder why nocody ever picked up where they left off!?:confused:

check out the thunder 8 XB . its similar , but different .

"Thunder 8 XB

The Thunder 8 XB is the answer for the operator who is limited to or requires omnidirectional performance that is switchable to "beam" performance at the flip of a switch! The Thunder 8 XB is capable of providing omnidirectional coverage with the added ability to concentrate its signal into a bi-directional beam pattern. Two coax lines run from the switch box (switch box included) to the Thunder 8 XB allowing it to have an omnidirectional or 2 directional beam pattern that is switchable instantly - no rotor required.

The Thunder 8 XB is designed to withstand the harshest environments with trouble-free operation. Omnidirectional performance rivals popular 1/2 wave design and switchable beam pattern provides much higher gain than an omnidirectional with the added benefit of rejection of signals coming from unwanted directions. Like our quad beam antennas, the Thunder 8 XB is engineered on a sturdy aluminum and fiberglass frame."

.......... some oldtimers would put rotators on them to hit stations better in the nulls. ........

i think some would turn one element horizontal when using a rotor too .

how could the SS be made into a 5/8 wave ?

If they would answer their email I would most likely own one of their antenners

Hi jas what did you ever to with antenna?

I still have it and some plans for improvements to try. But wife abandoned my 3yr old (7 now) and I and she just filed for divorce over a year ago after having 2 kids with ex-con african. We have to make a living my son and I sense I was disabled from accident at work, money went down big time so she left us but now 3 yrs later trying to take what she can and mt son via her attorney. I am strapped for money now so projects are working in my mind only. On oxygen now 24/7 but want to work on radios for xtra cash.
