Texas Star Amp Repair free help

Some information to share ........
The Texas Star amplifiers are manufactured and tested on "dummy load" only.
When the repair facility test them, it is on dummy load only.
Mike did confirm this to me about 2 years ago.
No testing is done on a live antenna.
You "will" get different results when used on a live antenna. If your antenna is not "tuned" perfectly, your results will probably not be good.
The DEI transistors play well on a dummy load, but not always on an antenna.
Mike and I have conversed numerous times on the phone and by email over the past few years about the Texas Star amplifiers. I may have picked his brain clean ........

Just a quick update. Mike is alive and well and still the main Texas Star repair tech. He's just been busy as a beaver as they're grossly understaffed over at TS right now. Just happened to see everybody was getting ready to write his obituary lol. Talked to him yesterday.

Did you tell him about the obituary part on wwdx lol, he'd probably get a tickle out of that. The guys at galaxy have been working skinny for years due to economic survivability. Glad he's alive and well!

I spoke with him before I saw the post so I haven't told him yet. He will get a kick out of it i'm sure. It will also probably make him feel pretty good as well, knowing the kind words spoken about him and maybe even get him to get on here and wave a hand. He sure is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to amplifiers! He's a great guy too!

Any new contact info. I got one with a issue. Makes the power supply go into a Fault.
TS DX400.

when you talk to him, can you ask him about the new "Toshiba" labeling seen on the pills on TS's latest generation of amps?
Did they get HG to put a custom label on them or what?
inquiring minds want to know.

As far as contact info goes, if you call Galaxy/Texas Star support they will get you in touch with Mike. And loosecannon, the only thing that I can tell you is that the latest repair work that Mike did on my 500V, he used DEI pills on the rebuild. He also mentioned that some customers had recently complained about them using counterfeit Toshiba transistors but he didn't know the details. It sounded like Texas Star got duped by whomever they purchased them from. He said the only thing that he knew is that they tested very strong, stronger than the HG or DEI pills that they had been using. Didn't sound like it was anything that was done intentionally on their part.
