This cb price gouging has got to stop

New Ranger RCI-69 is a base.(GIJoes & Bells) $499. Very few made & shipped

Argument about base is that’s it’s just the less expensive mobile plus a power supply and speaker.

That sketch may not be exact in all ways, but it’s the gist. .

An alternative (I favor) is a TAC COMM TRC-1,or 2 Radio Carrier holding:

1). PRESIDENT McKinley AM/SSB
2). Alinco DM30 Power Supply
3). RM ITALY KL203 amp
4). West Mountain Radio ClearSpeaker

Which totals up more expensive at $650. (The Ranger would come in same price with the board installed from #4).

Some details are also missing as this rig is meant to be mobile (portable) as well as a base.

It can have a second even third radio, (etc misc needed also). Build your own.

While this is a gift to my son, it’s a “base station” he can take with him.

My version is similar, so big truck, pickup or travel trailer, it can go along for the ride

.

Since I'm in 1st grade around here  am I to assume there is not any good base radios anymore? If so, what are options nowadays?
takes lots of hunting and research to find a goodern.

Amazing, an ICOM 718 is less and will run circles around that radio (except on AM according to some) and is much cleaner.

I don’t know why anyone on a budget would ever spend more than say 300ish dollars on a cb radio, or export that only does 10/11 meters for base use. if you just have to have a $1000 cobra 2000, I guess nobody can talk them out of it. I believe a new ic718 is about 500 dollars. There are good used hf rigs out there for around $400.

It ain’t the radio.

I’ve had my weekly bath.
Real soap, too.

You still “showering” with GoJo Grit out back of the shop?

I guess either is better than old RedBeard. Only man I know goes armed with 12-gauge & heavy revolver to wash his clothes.

Chicken hung on one end of a long balanced pole out over the slough. Mesh bag of clothes at the far other end

Alligator-ed,
not just washed!

Super agitator action.

Covid-Clean, and 100% Green
