Nope not me. I would be more concerned about boiling the fluid inside someone elses eyes at that distance and power level.

I agree with audioshockwav on the "to each their own" issue, But I have to wonder if those "bystanders" that are not protected by a farriday cage, and are not educated in radio theroy know of the potential health risks?

I wonder if they are warned?

At 50k plus I wouldn't be within a city block when that much RF is flowing.

And come to think about it, I have heard of some of the elabroate protection methods that some utilize, And I would have to see for myself the readings from a quality field strength meter before I ever got behind the wheel of one of those electromangetic cannons.:blink:

The Antenna is a DECIBEL PRODUCTS MODEL DB-212 that is the single folded loop part number. It was designed to be mounted to a 2 inch minimum pipe beside it or to a tower leg at the spacing of the aluminum mounting bracket . if not mounted this way they didn't work well
The bracket serves as a mount spacer insulator for the feedpoint . Search for DB-212 and you can find the specs. all the other elements are probably for tuning due to the mounting conditions. The maximum field strength would be to the sides of the van Most of these antennas we made on frequencies from 30.000- 76 Mhz I happen to be the proud owner of a 2 element array of these that were factory manufactured on 27.065 in 1972 . Shortened them up a bit and now they reside on 29.600 mhz another fact these used a combination of phasing sections consisting of 35 ohm and 75 ohm coax. when i first began experiment with a single antenna i fed it directly with 52 ohm coax no joy added one leg of the phasing harness in series and the thing became resonant on the design frequency i then started the tuning process to get it up to the high end of 10 meters had to shorten the phasing lines 4 inches each now 1.2 from 29.000-29.700.

And if would be interesting to see some real field strength readings produced from his antenna setup. The tilting of the parasitic elements must be giving him the desired results for his competition efforts. I remember his older model chevy van that was creme colored looked to be 78-87 vintage with a similar setup of antennas

Yep tansy sha sha from Florida, he has been tearing the snot out of others at keydowns for a couple years with that setup, no one has duplicated it yet. It takes him an awful long time to set that up to just key a few times. And yes there is a lot of money invested in that van. He never does show the inside, but I am sure he has one hell of an AC system back there.

I have seen some with 10 alts on them. They surely put some time, money and effort into it.
