Turner Super Sidekick Question

i have the turner cs1 it came from the manufacture gold
works well.
I ran a D-104 for years. Tried a little rough Plus 3 and fell in love. Then bought a SSK, and a CS-1. GREAT mics, that's for sure. Still have all of them.

Pretty sure the "4000" chip is type "MFC4000". This chip is too old to be in my 1976 Motorola Linear Databook. Cross-ref book says it's a 250 mW audio power amplifier.

It's probably listed in the "Motorola HEP" cross-reference book from the early 70s or ate 60s, but my copy is buried. Unknown how deep.

Online search is pitiful. The chip is just too old.

Once upon a time there was a line of cross-reference replacement semiconductors called the "ECG" product line. Their number for this part was "ECG752". Found that data, but not the original Motorola sheet.

never seen a ssk with a 4000 IC, the ones i have seen all had lm386,
i always thought it was a strange choice using a chip designed for driving a small loudspeaker for a mic amp.

I recently went though mine, cleaning the contacts & spiffing up the outside. Was beat up when I got it 30 years ago. My first ever desk mic! Always got good audio reports; I love it. Currently in use on my new Magnum 1.

Ha Ha! I did the same here. I've got a couple +3's and the golden SSK. There are 5 axial electrolytics in the +3's that need to be changed. I was thinking of putting together a kit for this but would not be able to ship for less than $8. Would anyone bite on this?

As I read this thread, I thought to myself "I should have swapped in some new caps while I was in there! They must be ancient."

Im getting ready to replace the three electrolytic caps on the amp board. What i am wondering is if a 47ufd will work in place of the 50ufd with a bit higher voltage rating? Same for the two 22ufd at 160v rated caps that I bought. 160v is much higher than the originals.
