Ultimate CB Base Station

How does the dipole in the attic work for you? Do you get out a good distance? I have a dipole and been wanting to put it in the attic. Just wasn't sure how good it would work.

I think you'll be surprised. I have used dipoles made with 4' Firestiks and full-sized half wave wire dipoles in my attic with success. And my attic has my heating/cooling unit in it In addition to metal venting, ducting, and wiring galore. I mostly used an inverted v configuration.

Yours is one fine looking Madison. Best I've ever seen.
I wish I knew how to share a post. Unfortunately I don't. But I found loosecannons original pictures and modifications post. I'm glad I did. I actually forgot how impressive that Madison really is. Just use your search engine on this site and put in
Uniden
Madison pictures. It's unreal! Loosecannons madison does everything and more. The mods are extensive, and done to the highest quality. I'll have to recant my original statement, and say that this is the best Madison on planet Earth. Hands down. I would challenge anyone to find a Madison like loosecannons.
You would have to actually read the post to understand what I'm referring to.

I actually figured out how to save and share the link by typing it and myself, but unfortunately when I posted it, and tried by tapping on the link it wouldn't show. I did find it again by searching,

Found it. Thanks!
And you are right. LC's Madison is the cream of the crop.

If there's truly one of a kind of anything, that Madison is definitely it. I'm glad you finally found it. I also learned how to share a post by saving it to my memo, and then just typing in the link. Why it didn't work I don't know. I triple checked it and the link was exactly as it was in my memo. I'm not sure why it didn't show up. Sometimes that happens with YouTube videos. I know there's an easier way to copy and paste or something like that, but I'm so illiterate when it comes to any type of devices. Anyone who has read any of my postings knows that already. Hope to catch you on the air. 73's

I did not get into CB big time until 1991. That said I worked in an electronic repair shop my senior year so I saw everything come through. I never really cared for the Cobra 2000 or the RCI base stations that were just a 2950 stuffed in a big box etc....In fact I thought it was stupid to have a huge box on your tabletop with a mobile radio inside a big box with an underpowered compromised power supply. I am all about what is under the hood not the hood itself! LOL I am also frugal and often you could buy a very nice power supply and a very nice mobile for less than the same thing in a big box from the OEM. Performance, Durability, and Price!!

I like the Madison more than the Cobra 2000's and they usually a lot cheaper to buy used than a Cobra 2000 as well!

Prob. the most popular base stations radio's since the 1990 are the RCi2950, HR2510/2600, and Cobra 148/Uniden Grant I would bet those make up 90% of the base station radio's in Michigan and Georgia where I have massive experience talking to and visiting SSB friends. Huge bang for the buck, easy to modify and for a long time parts were a dime a dozen!
