Yippie i got it back dont know how but ill take it still has no rec. i am testing the oscillator 9.979 and 10.245. 8.36 8.5 i have a signal generator with a frequency counter attached. i can use that right?

the crystal is 9.976 mhz it should be 9.979 is that okay? the fine tune side of the crystal has the reading but no reading on the other side that goes to the v4 pin 1 idn thanks

i found the volume pot was not working so i took it apart and cleaned it. it seems to be working now i still have to solder it in and test.

Watching your project with great interest. Nothing quite like bringing a radio back from the dead.

Except when it gets up and tries to eat people's brains. But other than that...

I found the rf gain middle connector to ground. was a broken solder. Did not even have to take it out. now i get .6vdc in v1 at pin2 (.6vdc) and v5 pin 2 is 2.76vdc (3vdc) awesome. they were 40.vdc everywhere before lol but there still is no receive it may need to be checked/aligned again the excess voltage may have screwed it up. / the transformers will not adjust and im not getting any tone out of the speaker, im sending a 266khz (unmod) thru transformers A1-8 from v4 pin7

It stopped receiveing.... again. Easy come easy go, where it went to nobody knows. the rf gain and the squelch work so, all of them work except for the BFO knob, and switch. they probably work, but im not getting anything when the switch is on. i measured the 9.979mc crystal. it showed 16.972 on the orange wire to v4 pin 1, and 9.979mc on pin2 and a resister to ground. the other side has a green wire measuring 9.977mc it goes to the fine tune knob. idn the fine tune doesn't change the frequency though. thanks for your help my friends

Uh, "K-Tran disease"?

The IF transformers will have one or the other of two types of tuning slug made from ferrite material. Either the tuning slug will be hollow, with a hex-shaped hole about 1/10 of an inch across, or it will be solid with a shallow screwdriver slot across it visible through the adjustment hole at each end.

The one with the solid screw-slot slug is the "K-Tran". They are famous for going bad with no warning.

Hello, Believe it or not the rf is working now, i found the middle contact had a broken solder to ground. it measures perfectly now i was really happy about that lol. I think i found a bad transformer a15/L2 The antenna matching. it should read .1ohm but it measured shorted. the sams has the Utica part number only, and it was no good i couldnt find another i didnt see anything stamped on it. so im just guessing right now
