Walmart's are going cashless!

They are required by law to take legal tender. A while back, there was someplace getting sued because they wouldn't take $50 bills.

Been that way for some time around here. Most businesses will not accept ANY bills larger than $20.
The Homeland Sec.op's at work told me 2 years ago, that HALF of the $100 bills are fake! The $50 bills about the same.
Most do not realize if a business gets a fake, even a really good one. When it goes to a bank and they catch it, the business loses out. They do not get reimbursed for that loss, so technically they get hit twice.
They went through that where I worked, one NFL game someone passed like 7/$100 fakes at different concession stands. Might I add VERY Good ones, they passed the ink test. HLS had a tough time pulling the fakes out of a stack of good ones. The catering outfit was out almost $1300 from those transactions. (change back from transactions/ plus deposit money lost when fakes were ID'd)
HLS told me the story about, a man who ran a used car lot. He found out he took some good fakes on a purchase. Well, he was going to take a huge hit. So this guy tried to pass them at a car auction on another purchase, figuring like him they would not catch them.
I take it you can guess who got arrested!
So with this in mind, it's no wonder some businesses have the no bigger than $20 bill rule.
I certainly would not take them.

Wave of the future, better get use to it...It's only a matter of time before that's the norm...

Personally I welcome a cashless society....Lot's of positive things will come of a cashless World, very few negative's...

Convenience Stores will less likely get robbed, if there's no money there to start with.

Drug dealers will be out of business.

Employees will no longer be able to skim off the top off their employers
.
Government would save millions just in the first month of not having to print or mint new money.
no more wondering where that money in your wallets been before you got it.

no more having to run to the bank to deposit your check.

If hackers do get your credit info and steal your money, the bank will refund it anyway...If you get mugged and the thief takes your money now, it's just gone, no one is going to refund it back...

With a cashless system, there's more safer ways to access your money than there is pulling a wad of bills out of your pocket or wallet...

Until the shit hits the fan and you cannot access all those cyber dollars. I rarely use cash myself but I like to keep a certain amount on me at all times and prior to a big storm I withdraw an amount to last me if there should be a long term power outage and access to cyber dollars is not possible.

Ok....Try and pay cash for something on ebay or Amazon...Get back with me after you try, I would like to know how it went...:D

Exactly and according to the Federal Reserve businesses do NOT have to accept cash. That notion about having to accept cash has been around long before computers were available to spread gossip. It was wrong then too.

But what about the strip clubs? No dollar bills...where am I gonna swipe my card there?
It's a mind boggling deal! I may have to start going back to strip clubs, just to find out for myself!:D

In a manner of speaking I'm glad to see it. I don't like handle to handle cash because it is germ colony's like you would not believe. Almost any gern you want for a bio-weapon is on there.
In a manner of speaking me too, but on the other hand the gov can tax all transaction it wants. No more giving the kid next door $20 tax free to mow your lawn.

Any more I make wally world do my shopping and I just pick it up.
Absolutely the last place I shop! Only as last resort.
But just me! If they paid the majority of their workers a decent wage would change my opinion.
Case in point: They want to build a Nationwide Distribution Center near me.
Presently in negotiations with State/Local Gov. They want them(Gov.) to forgo 600 Million in Taxes (over 10 years)...Want Gov. to make all infrastructure changes to handle the 1000's of Semi- vehicle traffic each day...etc...
They say will hire 1000 employees (est. Payroll $37 Million).
So drop $10 million off the top for their top 10 execs at that location.
That leaves $27 Million spread out through the rest of the employee's...
If you equate that out to average full-time wages...about $13.00 per hour.
Today's world though.
They had a big news story here where they cut hours worked here for 1000's of workers to below 32 hours per week...Why? The state passed a law 32 hours or more require they list employees as "Full Time". This required them to pay Benefits/Health Care etc...

Same happened to other business though...All the Big Box stores did the same to some degree! Walmart just seems to have the largest percentage.
Anyway, my worthless 2 cent's worth of Soup Box material:whistle::D

Well we went to Walmart at Sallisaw today and they still take cash, just not at the self checkouts. but eventually they will become cashless. I for one do not like using a card ,some people do, I prefer cash.
