Whoever said good fences make good neighbors, didn't live next to family!

Been in my new (to me) mountain home since March. First time I can say I love the area I live in. Still going to have to move one more time, to get out from under the thumb of the HOA (long story), but it won't be far when it happens.

There's nothing like the feeling that you've finally found your home.
Sorry to hear about the HOA, we've never had to deal with one thank goodness, thats why I like rural living, livestock don't really care what you put in the yard.

What’s the soil propagation map show (if I have terms correct)?

An oilfield supplier load of bentonite to bury those radial trenches?

KF5LJW lives up near Tulsa and will give hours of good reading
(on QRZ). See: “Tower Grounding”.

If his style doesn’t whet an appetite for “more”, then . . . .

.

The wife and I have been busy trying to get things boxed up and ready to move, spit shined the house ( painted) and trying to make it look as presentable as possible. All ready got my dad's old place sold, just a few legal things to tie up. Hopefully mine sales pretty quick, it's been 28years since I've had to move forgot what a pain in the butt it is. We close on the new house Dec 15th, wish this was all done and over with.
I did tell my wife I WILL PACK MY RADIOS, DO NOT TOUCH THEM.

G , Good Deal , All the best of luck on the new place ! You will enjoy it , believe me ! Been There , Done that ! It's a PIA but worth it so is your self esteem . :) I still have stuff in storage since we sold my wife's Dad's house , getting sick of paying that note ! Wife & I moved over 50 years of hording . Hash Tag " Moving Ain't Easy " ;) Protect those radios ! Stay Healthy & Safe ! 73 & God Bless ! Leo

Familiar with the problem having just moved after 20 years in the old place. Wife didn't even ask if I wanted her to touch my radio stuff, just like I didn't ask her about her sewing stuff.

Bro, I moved a complete household four (4) times in five (5) years.

You’ll be pleased at how much crap you can rid yourself.
Weighs down the soul.

Haven’t used it in a year? Buh-bye!!

Nothing but furniture is allowed to be on the floor.
Any room or space, air-conditioned or not.

— No drawer or cabinet is allowed to be crowded. (None, zero).

If a collection isn’t display-worthy (AND IS THEREBY ON DISPLAY) it goes.

Hers, yours, (the dog & his bones).

It wasn’t any surprise to me that moving to an antique travel trailer freed me from “stuff” as both my parents and grandparents had already done it (they each retained a cabin). There are those who sell all an travel full-time for years on end. (Maybe I’ll get to in retirement).

My son & his young family need a house. I don’t.
Old folks with a house adds to their children’s burden; rich or poor.

As my Dad would say, one of his friends would call and ask if he wanted to fly down to Mexico. He didn’t have to pause to think about undone work around the house. Animals to tend. Doors locked or unlocked. He (or he & Mom) just went. Took ten minutes to pack a weekend bag and throw it in the back of a Beech Baron. Off they went.

I “may” be tempted by attractive things. But space don’t exist.

As it stands, I can arrive home, hitch up, and leave town in a leisurely hour from when I arrived.

You might be surprised.

We have had a few rounds about what to get rid of, like it's been mentioned by some on here we need to purge. I would like to keep two small lamps of my grandparents, they have milk glass globes and are beautiful, the rest of the bedroom furniture of thiers can go (antique) but have no need. And I wouldn't mind keeping two beautiful oil lamps, they are useful when the power goes out. If I have no use for it or no room for it, I think it should go.

Just got a text from the wife (I'm at work) her niece wants the house, offered full asking price, we didn't want to sell to family but we've got to get out of here. My brother in law called our realtor last night (drunk) and cussed him out, then preceded to tell him what greedy SOB's we are. He said now he fully understands why we're moving. O well, show me the money, and we're gone is what I say!!(y)

— Buy two-hundred (200) book boxes (12x12x12) as they are THE easiest way to move everything that will fit. Partial or Full, matters not.

— Buy the best tape gun dispenser.

— Buy VG quality tape rolls by the dozen.

So long as the box is “squared” (carefully fitted in every dimension) no extra tape is needed past reasonable overlap.

(Don’t stuff these boxes. Just grab another).

After all those household moves, I cut tape and folded boxes down to OEM shape/size. Bound with twine by the dozen. Encased in XHD Lawn/Leaf bags (8-mil?) and used duct tape to shape them down on exterior.

Stored in attic. Given to parents a couple of years later (when they moved to assisted living. Household goods sold after being in storage awhile).

Other shapes/sizes ONLY per exact item.

Use WHITE address labels to write on. Not directly on box.

Book boxes have nine lives.
