If you isolate shit hole countries, you risk collapsing their economies. When the economy goes, people could give 2 shits about anything and make mass migrations to surrounding non infected countries. That NBC doctor that violated her self imposed quarantine and the dimwitted nurse that traveled to Ohio and back need to be eviscerated. If this crap starts getting out of hand, we're gonna need to put our existing military plans in place.
Look at the prepper community. I see a flurry of activity going on. I think we have the capability to contain an outbreak in the US as long as it doesn't mutate into an airborne transmission. We need to enforce the quarantine with threat of force, if necessary.
Talking about banning flights from Africa is stupid. Yup, stupid. I say that for the same reason saying that Americans cannot vacation in Cuba is stupid. All someone has to do is use a third party country and BOOM. They are in. You would not believe the number of Americans that travel to Cuba via Canada and Cuban customs agents will not stamp an American passport because they know it will incriminate them. the same reasoning applies to banning flights from Africa. All someone has to do is book a flight from Monrovia to Paris. The following day book a flight from Paris to JFK NY. BOOM. They are in. It makes no sense whatsoever. Like it or not there is not a lot that can be done to restrict worldwide travel.
Or mexico. Awful easy to get across our southern border nowdays.

The virus has mutated at least 50 times since the first infection. Given its nature, we should expect a mutation at least every month. The virus has few genes comparatively speaking, so we should expect it won't be long before it mutates into something worse than it is.
As far as "weaponized" I don't believe it is. However, the term probably became associated with the virus because the part of the CDC which is researching the virus is the part which investigates potential bioweapons.

If their passport is checked at entry, it will show a VISA stamp for the African countries (assuming they don't have a passport from one of those countries). Doesn't matter which country they transit through. We could keep them out if we want.
When I was in the service I had 3 different passports. It's very common practice in the military. Some countries we visited would not issue a stamp if they saw a rivals stamp already entered. It sometimes got interesting. It's not difficult to have more than one. Of course, that was a few years ago. It might be harder now.
Ebola would be easy to spread in the US. All you need is a few gallons of vomit and diarrhea from infected victims. It would be easy to spread this around on frequently touched items in public areas. Schools and playgrounds would be ripe.
And by the time customs looks at their passport they have already traveled on an airplane with other people and stood in line at the baggage carousel and in customs infecting how many more people unknowingly?
