Solder jumper 7 8 9 and 6, then reset the radio by holding the F and VM keys down while turning the radio back on
I bought my 857d last year will this mod alow to transmit of cb bands?

The biggest issue all these years in the future is you STILL LOSE the band edge markers with mods like this
I can think of several ways to recreate the band edges for at least scanning purposes if nothing else. Still it is the only way to get 60m .
You would think that anyone that knows enough to purchase an 857 on purpose and actually knows how it works without bitching about band edges ....

Thank you guys for sharing your experience with this mod, I would love to know what you guys think about this:

The previous owner of my 897D had MARS mod on and decided to remove it before selling it to me. I believe he damaged the JP1007 irreversibly .
I'd like to show you the attached picture.
The soldering pod of the left side of the jumper looks completely missing, and I am not sure if soldering on top of that will work to restore the mod.

I wanted to know what your take on this is....
any help is much appreciated!!
Cheers

Thanks, I took the before picture and Moleculo took the after.
This a bit off topic, but I bought a ft 857d in 2015, and when im on 70cm band using USB on eg... 446.125mhz... I have to tune it to 446.125.21mhz in order to hear other people correctly. How can I align it so Im "on frequency" at 446.125.00mhz. My email is smarko7691@hotmail.com. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

446.125.21mhz in order to hear other people correctly
210 cycles OFF (.00000047%) out of 446,125 kc...is getting pretty picky. The "carrier off-set" can be adjusted via menu. However likely you will change other bands as well. Or adjust the RIT and don't worry about it IMHO. The calibration of the readout could also be off that much also.
Is 2 meters/6 meters off also???

First of all, how do you know it is you that is off and secondly, that is well within the specs for that radio in that frequency range. Leave it alone.
Thank you for the speedy reply.
Some of the local hams have radios that have a gps in their radio, and they are saying my 70cm on USB is a bit out of alignment. I have never been in the service menu and wish to not go there for fear of messing it up. It isn't a big problem that my radio off by so little, I just thought that it was a matter of using a tone generator and selecting another value in the service menu to correct it. I only use the ft 857d for vhf/uhf on local repeaters and have an ic 7300 for hf. Thanks again for your input. 73!!

Does anyone have any knowledge with the Japanese FT-857? Are there any mods to expand the frequencies? Perhaps possibly cloning from a US version?
