I have the same radio. but EU version.
want to know if that mod by Happy_Hamer still work on EU version.
Its brand new, what i have heard I need to connect the radio to the PC with something.

Iam new in here. and want to be a radio amateur

For the EU version, you remove JP10002 only. Reset the radio and the new TX range will be:1.800 - 2.000 MHz
3.500 - 4.000
7.000 - 7.500
10.000 - 10.500
14.000 - 14.500
18.000 - 18.500
21.000 - 21.500
24.500 - 25.000
28.000 - 30.000
50.000 - 54.000
137.000 - 164.000
420.000 - 470.000

Cracked open my 897D to check this out, and boy are those things tiny!

So to verify with my stupidity, after the mod, the radio should TX on CB frequencies, correct? It seems that way, but I want to double check.

Just for emergency use, but it would be handy to have in the event it was necessary.

It WILL only transmit there in case of an emergency

Picked up an 857D a week ago. Not sure when it was made, but the shop sells alot of these so it's pretty fresh.

Did this mod with a Circuit Writer pen exactly as in the picture. Same factory jumpers. Verified continuity of my new jumpers. Tried reset by v/m-f-power and home-power.

Nothing, nada, zilch. No effect whatsoever.

I'm going on a vacation and will be far from cell service most of the time. I really want this radio opened up for emergency use.

Anyone have any ideas?

Yaesu hasn't changed this radio, and the mod is the current version. I say try it with a good old fashioned solder and see if you get the right results.

Ok, I did the mod and was able to TX on all frequencies that I can RX, except for a few. The only ones I am getting a "TX ERROR" on are the frequencies between 88mhz - 108 mhz. Any suggestions as to my error? Maybe one of my solders was subpar?
