How does the Elecraft K3 radio compare to the "Top of the line" big three imports ( Icom, Yaesu and Kenwood ) in performance, reliability and price? Even though $2K - $4K isn't cheap optioned out, my understanding is that the performance of the K3 is comparable to some $6K -$10K rigs out there...

I registered for Ham Testonline on May 20th, I studied through to May 26th and I passed both the Tech and General tonight in one session. I can vouch for the fact that the Ham Testonline tuturing works. I should have my call sign next week. I studied hard for 6 days and it paid off.

I'm new to HAM and currently studying for my Tech online. I've been pondering what would be my starter radio. From what I've been reading the 3 rigs listed above seem to be the people's choice. Those of you that have owned or use these radios, which do you favor and why?

I use a J&M radio on my Yamaha FJR. I think they are by far the best cb radio designed for motorcyle applications that's not already setup by the manufacturer. JMCB-2003 Handlebar-mounted Audio System - J&M Motorcycle Audio They even have portable radio kits that can be mounted.

Has anyone used the Cobra 75WXST radio? I have a car that's a classic and I really don't want to see a cb radio hanging around. The Cobra 75 WX ST seems like a cute little radio if it works well. I can even see hiding a small 150W linear in the trunk. The only cb radio I have now is mounted on...

The CB radio is on the left handle bar. The XM radio. navigation and phone is controlled from the navigation screen. The CB radio is also the intercom and audio controller.

The mount is rock solid. It's the heaviest I could find. I needed a mount that could withstand 150+ MPH winds. It can be found at www.blueghost.org
