Texas Star 500V fan retro fit?

If it's just for the sake of doing so then I say go for it. I do plenty of experiments in hobbies just for the fun of it.

But for practical purposes, when I reach the point I need more than a fan for cooling....I'll just buy a bigger amp.

I say it all the time on here, but I run my DX500 with just 12-14 watts of drive. She's purring like a kitten with Chinese transistors, stays nice and cool, and makes all the power I need. I've put up to 30 into it just testing, and while it does make a bit more power it is also very diminishing returns.

I also run about 12 watts into a DX350 with Toshibas and with the fan it stays cool also.

Either amp, even at those levels, will warm up right quickly without the fan.

I will guarantee you that this is the truth. I did an impromptu study for one of my vendors and I proved it without doubt. My study became part of their corporate familiarization papers for new engineers. This was not a just once hook it and measure it and collect data. This was weeks of data collection and analyzed.
Also in this study I proved that laminar air flow is detrimental to cooling.

All this talk of fans blowing or sucking...........I am waiting for the typical porn music to start playing. The only way to go would be the OEM Texas Star fan kits.
That is exactly what you would hear if they were made in Lagrange, TX.
For those of you who don't know what I am talking about that was the site of the Famous Chicken Ranch that ZZTOP is singing about in the song Lagrange.

Appreciated. I’m going to (off topic) need to build an insulation cover for a portable chest reefer. And do something about airflow (Danfoss compressor).

I have thermoelectric coolers available. Could trad for some radio gear.

I have a NORCOLD RF45 chest-type ref/frz (Owed a favor to a good friend and paid him retail for a NIB unit; might have been ARB or ENGEL otherwise)

Sits on rubber floor (gains heat).
Sited near bunk heater outlet (Webasto burner) (gains heat)
Potential sun-load heat direct & indirect (gains heat)

I have several dozen square feet of REFLECTIX left over from previous big truck interior window shading jobs (replaced by custom panels).

1). Double-layer underneath.
2). Single-layer vertical surround.
3). Squared double or triple “lid”
(Industrial Velcro is my friend)

A switched fan to fit one airflow entrance of two, is my thought. I’d have gone with pull-thru prior to your ejaculation above. I’m running off a cigar lighter outlet, and can add an outlet to run a fan. (Too much draw, I can run the reefer off of inverter 120V).

Truth is, too much “cooling” may not be ideal. Or maybe there’s not enough. Bunk heater use is dwindling with springs approach, so “too much” is looking like the best starting point.

For which I’m grateful your forceful point made.

Key down circles wouldn't surprise me. Were my mobile amp lower, I'd seriously consider doing it myself, with the radiator located into one of the vents for the a.c. to blow past. Was thinking about it for base usage, one could plumb it into the mini fridge next to the desk & keep the amp cool. Might warm the beer a bit though...
It's been done all over the place. I have seen water cooled tubes for radar.

I'm sorry, I don't remember doing anything like that!
I'll stop now before I get into Trouble.

No, it’s not auto-correct.
But it’s become a term no longer used (forceful statement), however much correct in description. Fits exactly your Post #62.

Yeah, it is funny. Same with “men” afraid to be momentarily naked in front of another changing clothes, or using the toilet stall versus the urinal.

TV culture is low-class. It’s what we’ve come to even in small irrelevant things.

Theft of the word, “gay”, is one that burns.
Moral & mental defectives are rarely (if ever) that.
1% of the population, 33% of child molestation arrests.

Means, carefree. Worries forgotten for a time.
How was the party? Oh, lovely, we had a gay time!
(is the response one hopes to hear).

The war is with language. Words that have lost meaning or had it twisted. Truth doesn’t exist where words aren’t allowed accuracy.

I thought you might have been shooting for the word "Calculation."
There have been many words that have been stolen and meanings changed. One Christmas gathering a relative came up to me and told me I was "Gay". Their meaning was stupid. After a right cross that would have dislocated the eye balls from a water buffalo, I said "I'm straight and if you ever say that to me again I will Haul your daddy across my lap and blister his ass." This kid was18 years old and I forced him to apologize before I would let him up. Never talked to that little trailer trash or his parents again. I have not missed them at all. The father is deceased because of a drug deal gone bad. The mother is HIV positive and is an active prostitute down in Brownsville, TX, the last I heard.

Dissension. It’s divide & conquer.

What hurts, friend, is to come across “men” who just don’t know any better.

(Here the part that counts) as the careers they and their fathers SHOULD have had were stolen by what passes as “Affirmative Action”.

The divorces and bankruptcies that wouldn’t have happened. The children not abandoned. The expectation of best (not throttled back such that girls & minorities “don’t feel left out”).

The new bay bridge at Corpus Christi is indefinitely delayed as the women + minorities “engineering firm” that had a bridge collapse on people in Florida recently did some of the preliminary work on the Harbor Bridge.

Hire for Diversity (incompetence). Thousands upon thousands of such should have gone to actual men. Or never been created. But, that’s not how the war rolls.

The indirect results you’ve described to a tee.
Same for suicide the leading cause of death among
the competent, age 55+. (And military of any age).
(Coronavirus concern is for suckers).

It’s not (just) them created what you described.
What I see across the East is dreadful. And I run into
the ones you describe who don’t lack brains.
But character is a result of more than family,
it’s society itself.

Were there but a few examples, I’d relent in that ejaculation. But it’s everywhere and nearly everyone. Drivers, security guards, truckstop managers, etc. By some definitions, barely employed.

I guarantee I can find more problem-solving ability at a Great Plains truckstop than I can in any government or corporate office. Upwards career trajectory — those — hasn’t anything to do with merit.

Destroy all the little firms using fake money from your cousins. Eliminate competition. Then eliminate from participation those you hate (without end).

Besides, they’ve already taken away your guns (as you don’t use them).

I use to be proud of my vocabulary. It was exceedingly rare I would have to stop and look up the meaning of any word used in highly technological discussion. But the one you pulled up caused me to do a "Dick Van Dyke" type of prat fall. I guess if I read all of your postings I will learn much.

I couldn’t define reactance or capacitance. I’m not at all conversant with the tech side of the interest in DIY conversing at distance.

Every field has a tech vocabulary. Weren’t you a wire-liner?

My vocabulary used to be beyond The Pale. 135k or better. But wouldn’t have been thought so were I born forty years earlier.

Literacy peaked in the 1920s. General literacy & comprehension. I’m a remnant. Was. No longer matters. No one reads, anyway. Even I’ve given up.

I used that description just to play.

Irked my son this morning in a text exchange. As I took a stance on grammar that he (and I) dislike. But from a particular focal length it “looks reasonable”.

It’s neither you nor I nor our types. It IS the attack we’ve been under since the 1870s (increasing heat; as it starts long before that).

I’m not so ill-mannered as to do more than (maybe) a tweak.

As, given the purpose of this forum, I’m not even a well-adjusted child. But damned sure a curious one.
