I'm selling my 2nd (commuter) vehicle and so had pulled out my amp and took off my big antenna and was running barefoot today with a President McKinely and a President New York/Virgina antenna and made a nice contact with 1117 TN today :) Wasn't expecting to be able to make a contact with the...
I know one member has tried the bulletproof mount -https://bulletproofdiesel.com/collections/antenna-mounts
I'm looking at the larsen mounts and wondering if anyone has tried one and if they saw a good ground/SWRs

They...
Not using the AMP remote switching input, just controlling the actual power leading to the amp. In the past I've run the shutoff wire to a switch on the dash but in this case the vehicle already has the wires in place for power in this specific cubby but I'd rather not have to run the additional...
Ok so it does sound like you have the version that is 4 inches shorter. The statement that your Wilson 1000 gets out better than your Max 2000 worries me though - regardless of the antenna length issue even at 1.7 or 2.0 SWR your Max2000 at 36 feet should easily outdo your Wilson antenna.
The amp in question will draw less than 30 amps so the amperage shouldn't be an issue. My bigger box wouldn't fit in this location so this vehicle is going to only be doing 200-300W. The remote I'm looking at is a 40 amp version but I couldn't post the link from Amazon.
I'm just wondering if...
I'm getting a new vehicle in a couple of months and it has a very cool hidden spot where I could install an amp for a very clean install (hidden) however it would be inaccessable to turn the amp on or off and I don't want to hardwire a remote power switch.
Has anyone tried using a remote...
Couple of questions for you.
- When did you purchase your current Imax 2000?
- Can you measure the length of your Imax fully assembled?
- What is your install, how is it mounted and how high?
- Is your antenna easily accessible?
- What equipment are you using to measure your SWR?
I may be...
Are you saying does not care - as in you have no issues?
Or
Are you saying the system does not care for the wattage - as in it does not like the wattage and it causes issues?
So what do you think of their recommendations?
I was going to install a McKinley with a kl7505 and Wilson 5000 mag center roof. Just wondering how careful I’d need to be with 200W or if I need to keep it at 100W or their 50W max.
Is it really that sensitive?
No HF 100W either in new cars I...
I was just looking at the recommendation in the manual for antenna mounting on some of the new vehicles and it's interesting. Only 50W max and they tell you to mount it at the back of the vehicle for 0-30MHz. I can't imagine 50W or even 200W from an antenna on the center roof causing issues. I...
I know I've seen some people with some noise issues with newer cars with LEDs but wondering if anyone has specifically pinpointed it in the Fords to issues with the LED headlights.
I did the mod on the lincoln 2 with removing D28 and AM and SSB audio worked perfectly fine after mod. This was on the older v3. Not sure what people are running into or if they just removed it without doing the NPC mod. Very hard to fit the parts in but I managed it. Why did I do the mod -...
Is the new antenna actually shorter than the old antenna? If it's the same length than that isn't the issue. Do you have an antenna analyzer?
As Sp5it mentioned if you can't get a good SWR reading up or down from the CB band than the issue may be something else.
For example - the issue with...
I started spreading the word about channel 1 as the unofficial FM channel for making contacts, DX etc. Feel free to help spread the idea and maybe we can keep things slightly organized as a CB community.
My takeaway from this video is that Fine Tine doesn't seem to think the wackpack radios are as bad as everyone says they are...and he said he's seen lots of them?
I'm sorry anyone who was around during that time and active on forums saw the radios, heard the radios, and the pictures spoke for...
