Yes I got moved..actually a lot has changed on my base setup, I'm now running a uniden 980ssb in both the mobile and base and stay away from extra channels and as for the antenna..It's now a gainmaster until I finish the mobile then I am thinking about a 4 element beam horizontal on a 45' tower...
Thank you to all! I have now ordered a puck mount and a predator 10k and 18' of rg213..I will install this and begin the bonding process when it gets a little warmer. Now if I can get a little more OT at work the midnight special 700 will come quick!
Ok. I understand the answer given but I'm still confused..If the ground side of the coax is directly connected to the chassis of the radio at the antenna jack on the back of the radio and I then use a magnetic antenna but run a large gauge wire from radio chassis to ground would it be of any...
I dealt with this for awhile myself..I found one of those folding big sign supports used in road construction and modified it so it had a 4' piece of fence top post and 4 folding legs then mounted a Imax to another 8' fence post..I could easily set up and take this down as needed. I've even seen...
O.K. I had a question thrown at me that I couldn't answer and it bothers me..Here goes...My Coworker is just getting into 11 meter and I helped him install a old 29 ltd and 102" whip on his truck. I ran a ground from radio case to chassis as I always do, He then asked why I did that when the...
Currently using a wilson 1000 mag mount. The 102 SS hit everyrhing and ended up tapping the back of the 3rd brack light if it hit anything hard enough. The wilson 5' fiberglass whip had too much reflect from thecab and wouldn't tune under 1.6 swr. After consideration I think a hole will be...
After all of this happened I have started to start my truck 20 minutes before driving to and from work and I also turn radio on while it's running. No issues since other than I wish I would have bought a bigger amp!
Ok. Wilson 1000 antenna and I cut about 1/4 inch from bottom of whip. Radio is back to normal after warming up. I am about 35 miles south of Chicago and our highs are 10 -15 and lows are 0-5.
Not sure..at work and on break I cut a little from whip to adjust swr. After that I went to check swr and found no tx. It has been sitting about 6 hours at ....-3 degrees. Going to let truck warm on next break for 20 minutes and try it again. I don't get off work until 5am.
Easy guys...he didn't spread the coils or clip anything and only adjusted the pots. I did go back to the shop and took in radio, all checked good except that on his meter on the bench it showed a 1.5 on swr and the radio meter showed 2.4..When he raised the AM deadkey back to 3.7 watts it...
I had some odd noise in my recieve like a varying recieve volume so I made the drive to a recommended shop and had him look at my 980ssb. He found a cold solder point and while there I had him tune my radio to my TS 250..He used a bird meter a tone generator and a scope and showed 2.5 watt DK...
Ok I'll let the cat out of the bag...I live in Steger, Il. And drive to Alsip,Il for work..I work nights so traffic is always bad on the other side of the highway for me!
I was told skip is few and far between currently? Is this just temporary conditions or are we in a long bad cycle? I've made 1 contact so far in about a week to Florida on my way home from work at 5am...haven't heard much either..
I've read a little about over volting and I'm wondering. ...when I do radio diagnostics with my 980 it reads (ok 15.13 - 15.22 volts) this seems high to me but it has been like this since install of just radio with no amp. With truck warm and ran over 30 minutes I checked at idle in park and...
I bought the amp from a local here that I was referred to by a local I talked to on the radio (shotgun willie on channel 11) it is used but looks new and was used as a base and he helped me set it all up. I paid $150 for the amp and after he did so much to help me set it up I felt guilty so I...
I work for Duro bag / Novolex...Everytime you use a paper bag my company probably made it as we are the largest supplier in the united states. Biggest accounts are whole foods and Trader joes. I'm a machine mechanic and supervisor.
