You can get a bad radio from any company.
Bought a icom 746 pro new years back from a major vendor.It was bad right out of the box. Sent it back & they replaced it.
There are several HF rigs with good noise blankers but there are some types of noise
that even DNR can't eliminate.
I have dealt with Bob's from when He was in Boston & after the move to PA.
Never got a bad piece of equipment or poor service.
One of the most respected shops in the business & I dealt with many while on the road for 37 years.
If this guy keeps ruining equipment coming from Bob's I'd bet my left...
A ladder line fed doublet with a good current balun will work 80-10 quite well OG
@357magnum To get over them hills don't go too high with your antennas.You get
a better take off angle that way. Height is for local work, DX keep em lower.
1005 divided by the lowest frequency you plan to use it on. Will work on some harmonics without a tuner. EX; 1005/7.200 = 140 ' square loop 35' per side.
Delta loop 46.6' per side. Should work on 20,15, & 10 meters.
Bling is nice to have but a good basic radio will perform as well as your antennas
allow.
Take your time & do a lot of research before you spend any money. You will be glad
in the long run.
Never liked the older Yaesu radios, mainly because they used sweep tubes & were
a little drifty.
Their more recent offerings 1200, 3000, 5000 are pretty good.
