10 GA AWG should be OK for a run ~10 ft. My experience is that it will draw about 28 amps on 4, and just under 30 amps on 6. 2.5 watts DK swinging to ~10 (and you don't want to go over 12) will get you 185-200 watts using the #4 setting. You don't want more that more than 10-12 watts SSB PEP either.

You don't mention the amp being used. The 980 may not even need any adjustments, but if it did it's a simple process.

How hard are you driving that 4x1446 amp (and I guess what mode?) I can use a MegaWatt S-400-12 (36 amps / 41 amp peak) to drive a 4x1446 AB biased amp to an output of 320 watts SSB before it starts to run out of juice.
