Dont let windows auto select the driver, you have to tell it the one to use .
You might have to try a couple of different versions till you get it right. Then stop windows from auto updating it
Actually the problem is, some versions of windows dosnt like the counterfeit cable and spits the dummy. You can usually dick around and get it work .Got to get the USB port to recognize it before you do anything else!
Haven't programmed mine for a few years. Dont even know if my lastest version...
Robb said it.
HF radios are not AM audio monsters but you can get acceptable audio out of them.
Set your carrier at about 15 to 20 watts.and go from there. Dont try to modulate anywhere near 100 watts.
Dont know about that antenna . I fit chokes to all my antennas.
It's easier to put one on and not need it than to put the antenna up and find you need one.

Second the 1.8 and 500 unless you are into cw.
Anything less than 1.8 is a pain on SSB. You might want to consider The high stability option before the 270hzs for CW
Me personally ,I have a radio with adjustable filters, I find myself listening to ssb on 2.1 and only narrow up if conditions...
Not really enough information to make an informed decision .
So ok !assuming 20m at 32 ft high.
.No feedline radiation ( that can be a real bitch on a g5rv)
. The antenna is in the clear and is orientated the correct way.
The horizontal will be a much quieter antenna and will work very...
I like the glass fuses !,as long as they are good quality soldered through type, and you solder the crimps that is.
Seen this problem on many different brand radios not just Icom.
The cheap nasty fuses you get from the likes of Kmart don't help. Had a friend who had the problem, he soldered...
