    Trashing the band

I feel compelled to say that I am so grateful for the folks on this board. As a noobie, the info I gather here helps me put together equipment and systems that operate clean and on frequency. Even if I do run power, which I don't currently, I want it to be clean and have no desire to create the...

    CB dx on channel 38

Hey Dave, I put together a crappy old 102" whip with 4 ground radials when I started back in April. Man, that thing rocked with the little barefoot box I use. I was thinking about your situation. From what I've been hearing from folks down south especially FL,AL and LA is it's been a pile up the...

    CB dx on channel 38

Man, UK was just bangin' in here this a.m. I was working channels 35 thru 38. All of them were hummin' Crazy and I haven't seen that since last April. Atmosphere is strange that's for sure.

    Uniden Bearcat ssb/am

I do wish it was more modifiable for channels sometimes. My experience with this box has been really good. Cheap as all get out for a new radio, spot on frequency out of the box and I get slammin' reports on the audio using the Ranger SRA-198 NC mic. Gain set to max. Something about that mic and...

    Uniden Bearcat ssb/am

Put a bump to the ALC 203 pot. Will bump the mod up quite a bit from stock. I believe you will have to turn it counter clockwise. Go easy and be nice to those pots. Maybe 1/8 to 1/4 turn at most. When prop is rollin' you will have no problem getting out with that radio. Good luck.

Cb channels empty for the most part.

Was over camping this week with the scoobie and wed' night had big storms. Made some great contacts in MI,IL,IA even Indiana Jones at the camper. I have the radio setup on a deep cycle with the 102" whip ground plane on the top of the pop up about 20 feet up. pretty funny. There was finally a...

    Your furthest contact .

Tokyo Japan this spring. Although I'm still thinking it might be a hoax/prankster. My station got hailed and I just sat there in disbelief. By the time I responded he was gone. Have never heard that station again. At the time I was working Germany and Italy on the beam.

Same situation here. Died about 2 months ago here in "The Ditch". Yesterday it really lit up. Made some contacts in MD,VA etc. Real strong. Yes, it's been depressing for me as well but have gotten a lot of work done in the meantime. I've found when I head over to the NY state line I do well in...

    Finally Europe !

Just wondering if we could have just ONE SINGLE THREAD where someone doesn't chime in about getting a ham ticket? Good grief man! Not everyone wants the fed's crawling up every orifice like most of you enjoy so much. Give it a rest...

    Finally Europe !

Holy crapsky! Nice job 357. The radio has been off here for the past couple of months here in the ditch 'cause there's nothing. If I head out towards NY State away from the Green Mountains I can here and get all the short skip. I'm turning it back on now and thanks for the heads up. Too much to...

    New guy here

From my experience (very limited) I know the antenna is critical as well as the coax. I talked to a guy a couple of weeks ago over 20 miles away in N' Adams Mass on 38 lsb in the tacoma (Not a short skip. Just good old line of sight. Yes, it is mountainous here). I use a Sirio T5000 on a...

357, short skip was just boomin' in from Ohio, Ten', W VA, Great Lakes, Ontario, Nova Scotia and New Bruns' yesterday. Hope you came in from the garden to have some fun. Tried to get a station in Ontario to send you my regards if that was you he was talking to but he ignored me (like most people...

The English language, being the standard, those guys take it almost into a language all their own. Foreign? Def' a hybrid domestic. Need a whole new dictionary just for that cb lingo.:p
