It's been covered many times here on the forum so I won't beat a dead horse. If one wants loud blarring splattering audio then by all means, get out your golden set of plyers and yank that baby out. On the bright side, if you plan on running an amplifier then you can bleed into not only your...
No problem at all. I was responding based on the fact that you said your antenna system was A-Ok. If it was or is then whatever radio you run should be fine as well. So was it the radio or not?
The antenna system is tuned to the vehicle, not the radio. Swapping a radio out should not change anything and you should not have to te-tune your antenna system to run a different radio. Sounds like a good question for a radio tech.
With a Galaxy 88 or 99 you can watch them drift like a sail boat when they are cold. When you talk to SSB regulars they will tell you too. Once they get up to temp they are ok.
I guess it depends on what you consider Decently powerful, and then if you want echo or not. Kind of a wide open question with about a dozen different radio's I can think of off hand.
Switch, the earth is not flat and soundcrapper radios are not good. If Cobra would have hired you to promote those radio's they would have sold like hotcakes......for awile anyway.
Before Galaxy came out with their new line of radio's their web site had a picture of every radio they sold. This was in 98 or 99. We had some questions on a repair of a Galaxy 73 and e-mailed them. They stated they never made such a model and had no information for us on the repair. I got the...
The last several days have been smoken for skip shooters. Here in Indiana stations from Florida and Georgia have been booming. It's always funny when you can't talk to the guy 7 miles across town but some guy 700 miles away can hear you.
A 6 watt dead key will be too much for 90% of all the 2 pill amplifiers out there. I had my Grant xl set for 2 watts and it would swing 12-14, I could run dozens of different amplifiers that way.
Ouch, I thought this was already discussed and the thought of the day was it should not be done.
BigRed222, if you have that radio don't do it. Take the 395 bucks, get an amplifier, and you will have well over 1000 watts.
All depends on what you want, see big swing on a meter and sound like crap or have nice clean audio doing real watts on the frequency you are talking on.
With the soundcrapper feature off you can get buy but guys come on, I can't believe you would say it's the exact same radio as an older Philly 29. The ST models are just not built as well as the older radio's, and they don't quite tune up as well or respond to some mods like the older better...
