What you might be getting is feedback from the talkbacl. A road king mic and or turning the mic gain down helps. You really should have D11 left in tact unless you like loud blarring overmodulated audio. Someday you should see your signal on a scope when this is clipped.
If you go to cbtricks.com they have all the information you would need. If it was properly tuned and converted by a good tech when you bought it I would not tinker with anything.
It never really caught on. If you can get a good deal I'm sure you will be fine. You might look at the General Lee, Stryker, or the Magnum S3 and S380.
Lords, they are a great little radio for sure. I don't think you will see 50 watts though. I think mine is in the 30-35 watt range with a nice signal on a scope. I want to try an Omega Force some day as well, they function just like a Delta with the top gun, speech processor, and quieter...
I see what your saying Switch, whenever I see ST I go into "get rid of it" mode. You should do a simple test some time Switch. Take a Cobra 25 and Cobra 25 soundcrapper and do your little peak and tune with variable power for both of them. Post pics and put them up for sale here in the sales...
There is a reason that the Philippines built radio's are sought after, because they are made better. It's no secret that Maxon cut alot of corners and the quality suffered.
A Uniden 78 Elite will tune better and out perform any Soundtracker 29 out there...hands down.
One of our local c.b...
Don't expect much from your cobra 29 nw wx st, they don't call em soundcrappers for nothing. Best bet would be to sell it and get a Uniden 78 Elite, they respond much better to a tune.
Boomers are known for that. Chainsawgang, you might seem to like that amp but Boomers are the last thing i would wish on anyone unless it was a heck of a deal.
Thats kinda odd, I have seen several posts that say the 95T is solid. Then there are some that say they drift alot. I think these new Magnum S-980's are gonna be da bomb.
Swapping finals in that radio would be foolish. 1) not cost effective. 2) that will jack up a nice radio. 3) You could vary your power from 300-400 watts and no one that you talk to would even notice. You have an exellent hi dollar radio, have it tuned one time correctly and leave it the heck alone.
I love the blue displays on these newer radio's. At least you can see them in sunlight.
Glad someone posted the pic because the link needs a pass word to log in.
I have always liked the 2950, my Magnum Delta Force has served me well but the new Magnum S9's are exellent all around. Remember, any radio is only as good as the tech that worked on it.
Very possible if they are the new mosfet finals. Quite afew new radio's have been changed over from 1969's and 2312's to a Mosfet design. For example, Magnum was the first company to switch all their radio's over. A new S9 will do 55-60 watts with a simple tune. This new Galaxy radio might be...
