    ILLINOIS HAMS ONLY LOOK INSIDE!!!!!!!

It's an academic issue. IL Governor Quinn passed the bill this morning without any fanfare. Antennas will be sprouting like weeds in Illinois now.

    440 antenna trimming ?

Being designed for 450 to 470 MHz, it will be too short to use on 420 to 450 MHz. Maybe you can find a longer whip (20" or so) to replace the current one, or find an antenna model that covers below 450 MHz? Looked at AES. They have a NMO440C that covers 440 to 450...

    Larsen Antenna retailer?

No coils or springs? They both have coils; it's required for operation. Neither of these antennas use springs. The difference between the B and the C: B = Blackened Chrome, C = Plain Stainless Steel Whip.

    END FED ANTENNA/L QUESTION

Are you stating that the antenna is now 48 ft long and the SWR is 1.5:1? You have 3 ft overage and you want to make that last 3 ft a circular end? If it is working, I'd leave it alone. If it ain't broke why fix it. On the other hand, that circular area at the end would act like a capacitive...

Go to www.spaceweather.com and you will see that the solar activity is down. This site gives the solar flux index The site calls it 'The Radio Sun'. While propagation isn't determined by just one factor, the solar flux is one of the major thing to look at. What you're probably witnessing is...

    CB Antenna help

To get an understanding of what is required to change a 10 Meter antenna to an 11 Meter antenna use some math: This can explain a lot. Basic formula: 468/F(MHz) is used to calculate the driven element (i.e., the element that is connected to the coax). The 468 formula is the standard ½ wave...

my swr's sways when i check them please help

The microphone gain/audio does not affect VSWR in any way. It appears you are trying to measure VSWR of an SSB rig? Anyway, just measure it in the AM mode to get a steady carrier, and do it at low power (i.e. 4 Watts). If you are measuring the VSWR at high power you may be forcing a fault out...

Need help with a 2 meter beam

Here's a 3 page pdf. Page 1 and 2 is from the 1979 AES catalog. Page 1 shows the Ordering Code, Page 2 gives the spec for the antenna near the bottom of the page. Page 3 is from the 1982 AES catalog and shows the spec and VSWR curve for the 144-148-13LBA in the upper right hand corner...

    SMA Adapter Which one?

Apparently they're both made in China. I would vote for the fisrt one with what appears to be gold on the SMA end and the greater number of indents. More indents provides for easier mating of the UHF Male connector. That's my opinion. Mike

    My first antenna build.

Looks like a capacitive full wave loop with a uni-match feed. Should show a flat response from end to end.

Need help with a 2 meter beam

I found it in an old 1982 AES catalog. It is a model 144-148-16 made by KLM. It was marketed as "folded dipole drive" that provides efficent broadband performance. The specs are as follows: Coverage: 144 - 148 MHz Gain: 14.8 dBd VSWR: 1.2:1 or better Beamwidth: 16 degrees Elements: 16...

    SAL Electronics Antennas

Hello Mike, The OCF will provide more bands without the use of an antenna tuner. The OCF806 is designed to cover 80 thru 6 Meters. On 80 Meters the bandwidth will require an antenna tuner for full band coverage. No tuner is required for 40, 20, 17, 12, 10 and the 50 – 51 MHz segment of 6...
