I was swinging around 2250 Bird (average) out of my 16 pill on 14 volts. Driven by a cobra 29 and 1x2 Davemade. I usually ran the carrier around 750 but would crank the variable up what I keyed with someone. I was beating 500 average out of the 1x2 but things were different then. Blowing a pill...
If you go strictly by the spec sheet 338 is correct. The transistors are rated for 100 watts pep so 25 watts carrier per device is about right. The Toshibas will take a beating but I have no experience with the HG brand. I occasionally run my old 16 pill but I baby it now.
A scope would be nice but if it swings the bird forward I would think you're ok. 500 watts carrier out of a 16 pill is exceeding the rating of the pills but I used to run one at a kW deadkey. That was back when Toshiba pills were cheap, free love and all that good shit.
It definitely depends on the user. I'll take every fraction of an S unit I can get. I enjoy the work that goes into it more than actually talking on the radio. If I go to a bigger amplifier with the same gain I may not gain any output, but the improvement in IMD is worth it to me. I have an 8877...
The caps in the 148 you got from me came from Klondike Mike. I was too lazy to go through that one and order caps. His kit was 100% complete and all name brand stuff. I seem to remember having a couple of extras. Just check the board number and make sure you get the right kit.
The band they sold off will be used for 5g which would actually be more useful to me. I'll bet more hams will use it with their smart phones than they ever did when it was one of our bands.
This may be a case of use it or lose it. I don't personally know any operators that used 3.5 ghz and have...
The trick is to spend all of your money before the bill collectors get their hands on it. I have some white trash family that just doesn't pay their bills. If they need credit some sucker always seems to sign for them. They spend their money on big screen TVs, ATV's, vacations they cant afford...
No way I'd run that kind of power with an attic dipole. I smoked the gfci on a hairdryer with a dipole and 12 watt cb in an apartment.
My guess to the question would be the stove and circuit it's on is resonant. If you're using the endfed it managed to find it's missing half.
Thanks for the report. My Ryobi charger is a static machine also. I figured that's what I got for being cheap but I guess the better brands have the same problems.
Thats horrible news. Dennis and I had a difference in opinion about a lot of things but he was good people. He was big enough to send me a PM after the political thread and I'm glad he did. I'm thankful the last exchange of words I had with him were positive. May he rest in peace and God bless...
I was more worried about starting a fire. I wouldn't stuff it behind the siding but that's just me.
Stuff happens.

Elevated radials are good. If you're trying to hide them remember that there is current flowing on the wires as well as high voltage points. Be mindful of where you put them.
