Base BJ radionut and his AR-10 Ringo

Thanks. I was looking at buying one but I don't remember the size of the existing mast at the top of the tree. I think the mast would be too large for the AR-10.

The tree is within the 150 ft of the zone of protection The gear is using the house ground rod, and the coax feed will be grounded at the entry point to the house and connected to the house ground. The antenna is grounded with it's own ground rod at the base of the tree.

Thanks @secret squirrel for your tree install story. Redneck or not, you gotta figure away to get it up there. Placing a antenna on a mast in the backyard is a no go, the tree it is, for me.

Bought a 100ft spool of Jefa Tech low loss 400, some connectors, dielectric grease. Now gotta get a new spool of #10 grounding wire. Almost there.

That what I'm going with this time around. 24 years ago I didn't invest much in coax. Not this time around. This time I'm putting money in the wire.

It might be the easiest to mount, just need to trim up one side of the tree.

I don't climb trees. lol. I'll leave that to someone else that I'll pay. Just want it to be as simple for that person climbing as possible. That's why something like a imax 2000 or possibly the A99 with no ground plain radials would be easiest to hoist up the tree. I guess a fiberglass antenna...
