We had T-storms here today which seems to have become the norm.

I did have some radio time and managed to log in on QRZ.com a young Ham Operator from PA.

His name is Lucas but likes to be called Luke. He is 10 yo.

He was on a Icom-718, 100 watts, 200’ dipole fed with ladder-line.

Very polite young gentleman. It was a pleasure to have a QSO with him.

I probably need to do something with my antenna, but my 10m chans are quiet as well.
I live in a suburban area and haven't heard a soul for days?
its' the 12 foot patriot by proton and im pretty sure its what in part contributed to my mcKinley heading back to florida for repair.

last nite i was hearing more activity ive ever heard in last few years. i got my antenna set wrong for 10 meters. today i might trim it a tad more . i know 1:5 to 1 isnt bad but im looking more for 1:2 to 1 or less

I've been playing around with the leftover Field Day antenna, a 135 ft. doublet/dipole fed with 450 ohm ladder line into a 1:1 current balun and then into an auto tuner, a mAT-Y200 connected to the FT-891 running 75W. Made 3 or 4 10 meter phone contacts on Sunday, all regional out to 700 miles or so, SoCal, Las Vegas, one local 20 miles down the road here in the mountains outside Albuquerque. Gave one fellow a contact for the 10-10 International summer phone QSO party.

First thing I've logged in a while, Sao Paulo, Brazil today. Wouldn't call the band open though, just right time right place.

10 is often open, just no one there, it's much like 6 meters, open but no one there.
Usually if 11 is open 10 is too.
I spend more time on 11 meters because there is better chance of finding users there.
10-11-12 meters are my favorite mobile bands because you can work them with relatively short antennas and minimal equipment.
