11 meter is very quiet?

I went down to the shack around noon. Skip was strong, but so were the idiots. Trump's swearing in had them out in droves. Political BS, music, whistlers, and, of course, the 111111 guy. They've infested 37LSB as well 38L now.
My new 6666pro arrived in the Med today, and will be in Alejandria manana. Hopefully some relief from these clowns on FM. It's getting so bad, I may have to break out my ham gear

Yes Sir, I feel your pain. I stayed off all day, mainly due to the political BS that just wouldn't let up.
I'm glad your 6666 pro finally arrived in country! Do you still have plans to run it with the 8 pill? I'm ready to here you on it.

It was bad. Really bad. I turned the radio on, scanned the band and then turned it off for the entire rest of the day.........
In addition to those mentioned above by 399, there was also the audio of Trump's swearing in on dozens of different channels, recordings of Hitler speeches, and lots and lots of big dead carriers being dropped on people's QSO's. Just a big 'ole ugly mess it was!

i hope the adult kids grow up
I don't wish to be preachy here gentlemen but that is exactly why I left 11m and took a couple exams. I wanted to talk on the radio, not listen to the immature, outta control freak show that prevented me from being able to when the band was open.

For those of you that say that amateur radio is too formal or restrictive, I guess it is compared to the free-for-all mess that 11m has become. Personally, I don't find giving a callsign and not acting like an idiot all that formal or restrictive. I find tuning/talking on ANY frequency (no channels, thank you) within the 6 HF/VHF frequency bands I have antennas for anything but restrictive.

The exams are not that difficult with a bit of study or memorization and then you can talk to other mature adults that want to play radio like yourself without all the garbage.

Crawdad -

I took the exams a little over a year and a half ago. In Colombia, the tests are different than in the US. 100 questions on rules, regs, and radio theory. AND . . . an additional 100 questions on Colombian history. All in Espanol. Somehow, I passed, and I keyed up on 10 meters. Everything went well until I mentioned that I was in Colombia S.A. Then the SH*T started. Asking if I moved here to do drugs; Are all Colombian women hookers ?; ect. I could handle that, but when they started making remarks about my Latina wife, I said, "FU", shut my Kenwood down, put it on the shelf, and haven't been back. There are assholes everywhere. It's just that every year there are more of them.

J.J.,
Sorry you had to experience that kind of BS but that is by far the exception on 10m or any other band I have experience on in 3 years. Was all this one station? And where was it?
If that was the norm on the amateur bands I wouldn't have bothered investing the time, labor and $ that I have. I could have just stayed on the Childrens Band.
I've worked pile-ups around Colombian and many other South American stations on 10 and 6m, have never ever heard anything like that. In fact I've never heard anything like that on any of the bands I'm on. I'm aware it happens with the occasional arsehole but they are very very rare on the upper HF bands. Certainly nothing like the daily immature crap on 11m. It would be a shame to let one jerk-off keep you from enjoying the DX.

Big congrats on passing what sounds like a very tough license exam.

I figure it isn't just the USA ( Americans ) that are loosing there manners. Looks like the whole world is going to the devil. But I guess the good quite ones just don't get noticed !

Conditions have been mediocre at best here lately but still making some contacts despite the lack of conditions (when time permits)

Here's a contact from Sunday afternoon with the 2995dxcf in action. A big thanks to @UDX-483 , I borrowed your clip my friend. It's set to private so it can only be viewed through the link.

How in the world will you ever survive these kind of temperatures?? I supposed it's just common sense to replace your speedo with a pair of pants? And would you also need a pair of socks? :ROFLMAO:

Take care down there, my friend!

Life is tough down here. Handling all that sunblock is a survival skill no one should be without.
