We know it's coming now so figured we could get ahead and start a thread like we did for it's siblings.

Hopefully we can eventually add the frequency mod and report on performance here as well.

Do we know anything about the release yet? Come on anytone, we're waiting!

All I know is Anytone says releases in July. And I want one. Hopefully, it's just a button sequence. Never did open the case on mine.

Just sold my AT-6666 yesterday, so I am part of the way there.

FYI, the PRO is a totally new radio inside. The only thing it really shares with the original radio is the case, and some of the menu structure.

I'm anxious to get one and expect good things after using the current q6 since about 2018 or so. Even when the current came out, it was on par with the 955 (very similar inside) and ahead of the pack when it came to the other offerings. Like they did with the q5, this should pretty much shame anything ranger can offer.

@Pez I know you can get your hands on them sooner than we can so please share the goodness when it's available.

Absolutely. I will share more when I can. I think you will be impressed. It's a big step up in all areas with lots of new goodness. Proper production units are not far away, around July is looking likely (TBC).

How so ? I have one in my SUV and have no trouble with the controls at all. It's pretty much a set it and go kinda radio. I've yet to have any need to go into the menu while I'm driving, and the squelch and clarifier are right on the front panel on knobs.....

If this one doesn't have the ability to dim the display I won't be interested. The 6666 is much too bright for night driving in a rural area.
Would be really nice if the receive audio could be improved too....6666 is really harsh sounding especially on sideband.

It does have dimmer settings, and it does have receiver noise reduction.

Excellent ! Now to hope it's affordable like the 6666 was......... The initial pricing put it over $700 Canadian, which is outrageous. My 6666 was only $230 Canadian.

Saw in the menu it had NPC and 3K/4K. 105 watts SSB. I hope it has better heat management than the original. I would have to turn a fan on the heatsink during AM round tables. Was using mine as a base radio.

Yeah hopeful they don't get ridiculous with the price because that may put many past the threshold. If it gets too dumb just maybe it's time to start looking at the ic-7300 instead.
