The funny part about going to 28 is you don’t need to do that to get somewhere quiet. If one has the ability to go that far they can probably go anywhere in between, in 5kc steps, or even a different mode. It makes little sense to go into the ham bands, even if you don’t care at all about the rules.

As far as ham bands...I’ve listened to the lower HF bands a bit, but it’s still pretty dry. I think I might find more interest in 20-10m DX if I listened there. I have pretty much zero interest in 2m-70cm and beyond.

You have to find your niche. It took me a couple of years to find a group that I liked. If you enjoy radio and don't get caught up on the ham vs cb thing there is something in it for you.

If nothing else just get your general ticket. That way you can buy stuff from the ham classifieds without getting the stink eye.

Just some idle conversation. Year after year the conversation of Cber’s using Ham equipment modified for 11 meter is bad , bad ,bad. Reason told that is the belief the modified radios are also being used on ham Bands,. That is such a load of crap. They use converted equipment to get better radios, simple as that, no dark motives. I am sure there will be some that give an example of abuse as with everything else, but no more than a ham pumping out gigawatts,lol, and splatter also, and yes my dear friends Hams splatter too,amps are cheap, get some new ones PLEASE. There are many many clueless operators out there. So how about we lighten up on the Cber’s that are putting down the bucks for new radios and better equipment. Truth is the massive amount of 10 meter rigs sold and modified is the reason new Ham rigs are even on the market(few at that), the 10 meter rigs are the candy to the radio company's, without that they cant do R&D to make the new stuff, they sure aint making any money of the Hams that are using 25 year old equipment,lol. Ok, everyone have a nice Holiday Season. oh and one more thing, Please stop saying in your ham radio for sale ads, 'sale to Licensed ham radio operators only',stupid remark and not legal, no Ham is going to buy your old junk, be grateful a CBer might want it and your radio can live on. Your amp may be CHEAP but mine is NOT.Look them up & you will see it is nearly $5000.I don't buy CRAP gear just QUALITY.Look up the specs & see where it's a Splatter Box. LOL We have Hundreds of Deer Hunters in North Florida & South Georgia using 2 meter radios in place of their CB's & more & more every single year.I don't sell any Amateur Radio to anyone who does not have an FCC call sign & I don't advertise them that way.I engage them in a conversation & tell them someone else purchased it or that I changed my mind.I choose who I sell anything I own to no matter what it is & I tell those who don't have a license that they are far better off with a Legal CB because they are far simpler to operate.It's my choice just like everyone else has their own choice.Nobody has to like or dislike it because I won't change for anyone.Amateur radios are for the Amateur Radio Bands & CB's are for 11 meters.

At a VE session a general licensed ham was selling a HF rig. An examine passed his tech and inquired about the HF rig. The response was "I can't sell it to you , you're only a tech. "

The general was shown the door and politely asked to modify his attitude before returning. His response? "I'm telling the ARRL and FCC!"

We found a radio for the tech within the week and upgraded him a month later. He and several of the VE's present were greeted by purposeful and specific jamming from, you guessed it, the general that wouldn't sell him the radio.

The general that wouldn't sell the radio is effectively off the air. No one locally will talk to him on HF or VHF/UHF.

The tech/general , now an extra is now a VE and participates in several VE teams in the area, including ours.

This is an example of a healthy amateur community.

On a personal note I operate on frequencies and with modes according to my license privileges within the spirit of the law and to my own conscience. I have not had any issues and suspect I never will.

We have Hundreds of Deer Hunters in North Florida & South Georgia using 2 meter radios in place of their CB's & more & more every single year.

And not a single one of them is reliant in any way on a ham selling them used gear with no license.

So you lie to people?, Why not tell them the truth? If they took the time to contact you, you could at least explain why they are of a lesser quality human than you, and that you KNOW what they need. maybe you could say, "hey I can show you how to get your Ticket"? Or maybe you dont want anyone new in YOUR hobby. What 5k dollar amp do you have , I'm interested in Large Powerful Amps for moon bounces,lol.

The "problem" with ham gear on 11m is that it is not type accepted by the FCC. What is funny is when a ham will only sell to another ham and the equipment has the MARS 11m modification............ I don't think it matters much what people run for CB equipment as long as it is clean. I always run low pass filters and make sure I do not overdrive my equipment. Attracting unwanted attention from the FCC is never good no matter what band you are on.

I guess my B&W5100 and Ranger is not tupe excepted..hey...i can't find the sticker!

They are the most sexually perverted meanest repetitive funniest? creative? loser group I have ever heard in my life, and I have seen it all and done most of it. They will make the worst 11 meter dude blush.
