Base New Imax wont tune 11m....this sucks

There should be a Class Action Law Suit against Copper Electronics and any one else selling the 10 meter crappy Max 2000 as an Imax 2000 - There is no longer any antenna called the Imax 2000. I'm beyond frustrated with Copper Electronics as they are still advertising the NEW Max 2000 as the once GREAT Imax 2000 which is why I bought it. The Max 2000 is what they have been called now for years and will never give you better than a 1.7 or worse on CB bands. The Max 2000 has only good swr on 10 meters. This Max 2000 is complete junk for cb! Bells CB Radio did the correct thing as no one in business wants un-happy customers although Copper Electronics seems to not care. I took a photo of the old, GREAT no longer made Imax 2000 instruction with the junk Max 2000 instruction manual. I also am showing Copper Electronics current advertising as of 1/17/2022. I got 100% ripped off by Copper Electronics with their fake advertising and since it took me 2 1/2 months to get around to replacing my old Imax 2000 is when I noticed a WTF! now I have a junk antenna I can't return or even sell to anyone else in good faith unless they only want a 10 meter antenna!

First people need to quit talking about the Imax 2000 as there is no longer any antenna called the Imax 2000. What height is the antenna and are there other objects near that could reflect? I bought my "Max 2000" in January last year and it has worked great. At 1 foot off the ground propped up on a cinder block my sw would climb if I ran a lot of power but otherwise was damned good under the circumstances. Later I raised to 6 feet, then 26 feet with better results every time. My coax is now 38 feet on a tower and the worst sw I've seen was 1.4 through all 40 channels at 1100 watts. If the worst you're getting is 1.7 sw it might not be the antenna but the location of the antenna. I know some of the new ones was a turd and maybe I got lucky on mine. But to be honest you can run 1.7 swr or 1.2 swr. You're the only one that can tell the difference on 11 meters. Everyone is searching for that perfect 1.1 ratio but at 1.7 your not hurting anything and I'd guess reports say you sound fine.

Read and learn the basics and homebrew your own. Takes the Coppers, etc. and the cheesy manufacturers out of the equation. You'll no longer have to rely on someone else to provide you with an overpriced, moderately efficient, shoddily built antenna. You choose the materials and the $ you want to spend. It's amazing what can be done with just two pieces of wire. Basic antennas are just not that difficult. They ain't Rocket Surgery. And they work and work well. Whether you're trying to talk across town or across the pond, they work. A lot of times better than whatever the latest and greatest XXXX2000 on the market. For a whole lot less. Plus, it's a rush to talk on something you built from scratch. Just sayin'.

lol!!

ok thanks.
I wanted to make an update

I bought a used antenna with date code 10 11 12 13, not sure which but an older one.
It tunes down to 1.05 and the rings work really good.
i layed this down beside my "new" shortened one and they were virtually identical.
My buddy says one was a bit longer maybe 2/3 a inch but as far as i'm concerned they matched on every joint side by side.

so what I'm saying is we got a carfucle.

Its got to be that capacitor they added to the middle section.

i have no clue anymore

I will like to add to this. I picked mine up a few years ago and just got to put it up about a month or more ago. It was good for the first day or two then i started having SWR issues. So i did what every 300lb gorrilla would do, i kicked the mast lol. This is the result in the video. It ended up being the "plug" that holds the coax connector in the base of the tube was loose, i'm not sure what else was going on, i haven't torn it apart and am unsure on what to do with it, either sell it for parts, or just use it for a DIY antenna project. There is a sirio Gainmaster in its place right now.

No I haven't seen that, thanks for posting it.

I never knew there was a capacitor in the middle section.

Back in 2016 I modeled this antenna with the capacitor, unfortunately those models were lost. I recently found some of the models working with this concept and posted them here. I want to do more testing but with my work schedule lately and the foreseeable future I just haven't had time.

The DB

Edit, added in. I am aware of mentions on this forum of said capacitor that dates back at least to 2010, and even further. However, on media outside of this site, your video link is the first I've ever seen that has even mentioned this capacitor's existence. This capacitors is brought up so rarely that I'm sure a vast majority of people, including most of those who think they know a lot about antennas, have no idea that it is even there, much less the implications of said capacitor being where it is on this antenna.

Today is 9/19/2022 and i just got off the phone with RoadPro talking to them about the Imax2000 not working well on 11 meters and if i could buy the"optimizer" piece, And the lady did look to see if its available to sell. She is well aware of the problem out here with the antennas and was aware that they had talked about having it for sale by itself. She could not find it for sale at this time, However she did promise to bring it up at there meeting on the 21 of this month.
I asked for her name and wrote it down and told her i would call back after to find out if there is any news after that meeting. I will post a follow up after i call her back. I do not expect much to happen but you never know.

How will the 12-inch extension attach to the top section?
