Base New Imax wont tune 11m....this sucks

One thing for sure you have more B@%%s than me as steep as your roof is I'd rather put a cheap eve mount and short mast on it than climbing that ladder and screwing with that tree ! Kudos's to you 357 .

Well I re-used the old bottom section with the new top sections.
On Monday I took the Imax down again and used to old top, middle and bottom sections together and put it back up.
It was 1.34 again.
Today I wake up its 2.13 and flat up on 29.200.

It didn't rain last night, its sunny out..
How the F does that happen? Seriously, WTF?

did you ever try just using another test coax,, maybe 20-30' long and just check it with your analyzer right outside? or did you ever try just a plain old swr meter inline

No I did test the coax with a dummyload on the end, I tried my swr meter in the radio and another one, no difference.
I will see about borrowing some coax and testing.

Maybe a nest of ants live in it? Maybe it fixed itself and if I put the rings down from where it is at 3/4 to 1/4 it will be flat on 40?

seriously I've never had such a pain in the ass with an antenna, N E V E R.

Solarcon, I'm gonna be super pissed if I kill myself trying to fix this pos!

Its amazing. I've been into CB radio for 45 years now. I've personally purchased about 12 or more base antennas over this time and likely 25 or so mobile antennas. With friends family these numbers go into the hundreds. Never once have I heard of a failed antenna. For one person to experience so many failed antennas seems extremely rare. They are not very complicated to manufacture and test at the factory.

Look at where your coax connects to the antenna at.
It may be loose there or the inside of the connector on the antenna has corrosion.
Man you having some bad luck.
If all else fails, try a starduster, direct feed no matching network and no friggin tuning

really need to rule out the coax and or connectors,, with another test coax

LMR 400 coax doesn't take much moving around to stress the solid center conductor especially if the center conductor was scored when the end was trimmed to put the PL-259 connector on

I would think a coax with a stranded center conductor would be better for your application with the antenna and coax running up a tree that is blowing around in the wind all day

welcome to 2018. The millennium of failures.
I'm gonna take this deathtrap down for the 3rd, 4th time and open it up.
If the coax had a broken connection, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a flat 50ohm match on 29.240, it'd be crappy everywhere.

Here's what the "replacement" looked like when I opened the box.
