Jackson ain't only radio Uniden have made with agc issues,been a few from what I recall they may be Uniden radios at Qixiang prices, but unlike Quixiang who listen to customer feed back Uniden have alway been complacent about admitting or rectifying faults, As for front end overload,I used to notice it on original Lincoln very often when out mobile up high at night with one or two strong signals on band there was images all over the place,and some so strong and clear was hard to tell if you were listening to fundamental frequency or an image,
was one of the main reasons I preferred the Jackson as it wasn't as bad although suffered both issues too, its not as noticeable when band is busy but when quiet at night especially on FM and there was 1 or 2 strong signals local,you'd get images everywhere,backing rf gain sorts the agc without modding it as it only happens on really strong signals, I was considering Grant 2,Lincon 2 and Alinco DR135dx/cre 8900, the Alinco is begining to look like the better buy of the 3.
I like companies that listen to user feedback and act on it, I've heard people slag off Anytones/6900 being on ver 6, I'd have thought that's a good sign,s times in the space of a couple of years or less the manufacturer has tried to improve their product,only thing will make Uniden change a board is lack of campatible parts or they find a cheaper way of doing something,Its always been their M.O. ,
as others have said I know of at least 5 or 6 different jacksons that all had agc,even the final batch didn't address it,despite a fix being common knowledge for at least a decade, I fear Unidens day as a superpower in CB radios is coming to an end,they are far too pricey and don't come with the reliability they used to, as long as they live in denial and greed in Balaruc they are doomed,its about time they started listening to users, ch 9/19 and echo in a 10m radio,wtf, that money would have been far better spent on better filters and a processor
The Grant 2 may buy them more time but its fast running out for them as others exploit their weaknesses.
