New Ranger 2950dx D6

Anyone know what those RT1 MOSFETS are? Don't know if they are re-labeled or a new in-house design. I couldn't find any spec sheet online. Are they just drop in replacements for the IRF520's?

Went to bells to check it out.. no price yet. This is a quote from the description.
"The new RCI-2950CD, rated at 50W PEP and the RCI-2950DX6, rated at 100W PEP are perfect for the recent band openings on 10 and 12 meters."
Aaaaa ok.... WHAT recent band openings??

More than likely for the same price you could buy a Kenwood TS-50 or ICOM 706 MKIIG used for about the same money & have a lot more bands. All of the Ranger line is overpriced for the band coverage that you get & the other radios I mentioned are far better built & have so much more than a Ranger.

I agree 100% on the band coverage and being better built. If it's band coverage and "smooth" audio your looking for then go with the ham rigs. I only really talk on 11 meters (lower 38) for the skip into Europe and South America... and it's my Ranger 2970N2 that spanks my Yaesu FT-1000 MP MK 5 Field and my ICOM 706 MKII. Don't get me wrong...I'm not a big Ranger fan but I use what works for me. It's the 2970N2 that gets thru the pile ups with it's compressed audio...not the ham rigs. The Ranger doesn't have that "smooth audio" but when the skip is rolling in it sure gets thru the train wreck where the ham rigs would not. And for price..my Yaesu cost me 1100 used. My ICOM 706 MKII was 350 used my Ranger cost me 295.00 used. I run all my rigs thru big amplifiers So to each there own :) Everyone has different wants or needs and they should use what is best for them.

Ham rigs have adjustable on board compression and TX band width that can be narrowed on the fly to do the same as what you're doing. Ham rigs with a knowledgeable operator of his radio can get thru the same pile ups you're doing.

I don’t work Skip on 11 meters on purpose most of the time and prefer the band Dead since I usually only talk local on my CB’s.I get more than my share of DX on HF with my ICOM 7600 and PW-1 with the Mosley TA-53M.I have no issues working any stations I can hear. The only CB I have ever spent over $400 on is my Browning Golden Eagle MK IVA and it was the exception to the rule.
