Radioddity QT80 (6666 pro clone)

Got my QT80 this past Tuesday evening.

Bought this radio for AM, but also for backup on SSB just in case my Yaesu FT-891 ever needs to be serviced.

Anyway, mine is on the way back because the most mine would do was 65 watts peak, and some times barely touch 70 watts if I screamed into the microphone. My previous Anytone Quad 6 did 60 watts AM and SSB just talking into the microphone. And yes I used the same true peak reading meter and dummy load, and the mic gain was wide open.

The NPC thing did work, but there is a cut off. Scott's Radios has a video on YouTube right now about it. I keyed 2 watts, and it was swinging past 20 watts to round about 25 watts. Two watts to 20 watts swing was no problem with NPC on. NPC off I think it was two watts to peak of around 13 watts.

Already returned for refund, and I have to pay shipping for a radio that's not doing advertised wattage. Hope you guys get a good one.

Hi have 3 of them here. All of mine do between 80-90W PEP on AM, and 95-104W PEP SSB. Better than advertised on 10m/11m.
Measured with a Bird 43, a Monitor Sensors meter, and a new calibrated spec an. All of the tests I have seen done by others with these meters, and also with an LP-100A also show the same results. Either you are unlucky and have a radio that is underperforming, or your power meter is not up to the task (this is the case far more often than not). YMMV. 73

Hi have 3 of them here. All of mine do between 80-90W PEP on AM, and 95-104W PEP SSB. Better than advertised on 10m/11m.
Measured with a Bird 43, a Monitor Sensors meter, and a new calibrated spec an. All of the tests I have seen done by others with these meters, and also with an LP-100A also show the same results. Either you are unlucky and have a radio that is underperforming, or your power meter is not up to the task (this is the case far more often than not). YMMV. 73

Mine was measured at 104 PEP SSB on the RF Applications VFD and assorted other stuff you cant get at 1-800-HAM-BONE. Doesn't matter anyway, he returned it for refund.

The thing is the Anytone Quad 6 no pro I have had for round about two years did the advertised 60 watts on AM and SSB right out of the box, and it was still doing the same amount when I sold it a few weeks ago. The buyer even emailed me, and said yes it's still doing the advertised power, and he was very happy with it. Never opened or tweaked the Quad 6.

Then used the same meter on the QT80, and it's not doing the advertised 80 watts on AM. Never did test SSB because I was frustrated by the under performing wattage on AM.

Pretty sure it's an under performing radio. I just got a lemon. It happens. Won't stop me from buying other Anytone gear. Sixty watts to 80 watts isn't much, but I like to get what I paid for.

If the power output was in fact low, it could have been adjusted rather easily, since you have a high end wattmeter.
